I'm sure I've seen this problem discussed before but I can't find it.

I've just Put a GeForce 8400 GS into my old desktop but BOINC won't detect it.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and BOINC 6.10.56 (after a struggle). The NVIDIA driver version is 256.44

The startup messages are as follows...

I strongly recommend that you disable the "Suspend work if CPU usage is above" feature.

Are your Nvidia drivers visible to BOINC? Without them, BOINC won't detect the GPU.

Too much Wiki editing!

How do I check this?

For that you'll have to ask the *nix gurus ;-)

Something like a unix "path" equivalent or some soft links perhaps? [edit]Or access rights to the video device (/dev/...)?[/edit]

OK... now BOINC can see the GPU but it won't download GPU tasks.

Any suggestions please?

Seti doesn't have a CUDA app for Linux. You'd have to use a third party app for that, and the only one I know of is one by Crunch3r, but for 64bit Linux only.
