As one of the original members of SETI, that is before they decided to put in the BOINC system, I had accrued a nice little nest egg of points which I lost in the change over to BOINC since the turn of the century, and since 2006 when I gave SETI another chance and started over again I have accrued over 700 xxx xxx credits. At one point last week before I combined my two pages I have over 900 xxx xxx credits.

As a writer I am pretty much at my wits end and soon will be making a decision about continuing with SETI, in which case if I do decide to sever any and all connections I will most assuredly continue to write, and do I love writing.

In my continuing efforts to apply to Team Carl Sagan my pleas are being ignored so I would suggest that Mr. Anderson starts cleaning house. tic ... tic ... tic ...

Sincerly,
Batai

You didnt lose your nest egg. It just stopped getting bigger. Just like everyone elses did who ran classic. Go to your prefferences and you can see how many classics you crunched and how many hours you logged doing it.

As for joining a team,Gee all these years I thought all you had to do was press the button that said join team. But then again maybe they would like a team player.

Just my two pence worth, flame away.

I see that you're already a member of Team Carl Sagan, so I'm not quite seeing the problem. But then again it's early in the morn, so I'll have another cup of coffee, and see if it makes sense anymore.

Also see this page to link your classic units.

Posting in the Number Cruncher part of the forum is much more likely to get you technical help. Maybe a mod can move the thread?

What do you mean by 'combined my two pages' ?

Dear James,

Seeing as you may consider me a 'simpleton' by a mere few groupings of 1's and 0's, I'll blow this one off and give you a free get-out-of-jail card for the time being. Maybe you can summarize from my previous email that I was merely setting up the argument that I am INDEED a full-fledged member of SETI.<----<<< That's a period. That's all. Nothing more needs to be said.

FYI because Team Carl Sagan cannot find my SETI profile, you know the same one that states my User ID: 8384200, the same one that states my Recent average credit: 872.50, the same one that states my Total credit: 766,505, my Account keys, etc., etc.,
I cannot post new topics in the clubs forum.
I cannot reply to topics in the forum.
I cannot edit your posts in the forum
I cannot delete posts in the forum.
I cannot vote in polls in the forum.

The board may show that I am a member of Team Sagan, albeit I do not enjoy any of the benefits such as team forums, peer communications, and the personal member page as others have, all because they say,"We are sorry but we can not find you as being a registered member of SETI@Home."

As for not being a "team player," I am really perplexed as I hardly know you and would not assume anything about whether or not you yourself are a 'team player.' So, what's the rush to judgment all about here? Did I pi$$ in your beer or something? I did my service to my county honorably as a Vietnam-era veteran. I presently hold two degrees. I have done ten marathons to date without once quiting, and I am almost fluent in differing dialects of Spanish. I can also split the stream of a piss ant at ≈1000' (symbolically). Each one of these require assistance (i.e. collaboration) with at least one other person. So, please go ahead and enlighten me about 'pressing buttons' and team playing.

Regards,
Batai

This has me really confused.. Being part of SETI, here you obviously are. Team Carl Sagan is another issue, and a private message to the leader of that team I am guessing should get you an invite? And if not, while explanation might be appropriate but I fail to see the benefit of public drama about it.

If there was a message saying they did not show you as a SETI@home participant, I believe a private message to the leader of that group on this board should clear that up.

Best Wishes.

Thank you (genuinely) for the 411. My problem is that I too quick to push a button thinking its private as opposed to public. These forums tend to confuse me sometimes. So, this "public play" is not all what is may seem to be on the surface. Besides the admin of the group will not respond to my querries. Thank you anyways though. I do appreciate it.

Best,

You're aware you can either link accounts, thus re-claim your old credits or just highjack back your old account? Not that it matters of course, but you seem to be fighting for some identification it seems.

Best Luck,

No, I was not aware of that possibility. Here's where I remove all doubt. How does one go about that task? I would love to have my old credits back.

As stated previously ;) you can 'claim' your classic seti credits by visiting this page.
You need to know, what email you signed up with/were using at the time. It does not have to be an email address that is still functional/still exists. You probably don't even need to know your old password.

Hope this helps.

Dear Batai
Hello
please excuse me for my late reply. I do apologize :(

re: your not being able to log on to the team's website.
http://tnmshouse.com/carl_sagan/phpBB2/
this web site is private ... and is owned and operated by:
Mike O ... a member of team Carl Sagan.
and it's my understanding that Mike is having technical difficulties with his Web site and message board at the moment.
Batai ... could you please send a PM to: Mike O
and Mike would be very happy to help you ... and explain the technical difficulties he is having ... with his Web site and message board.

of course we do a Carl Sagan message board ... [visible only to Members of team Carl Sagan] ... that is provided by ... SETI@home ... University of California, Berkeley :-)

Dear Batai ... please let me assure you ... you are a full Member of team Carl Sagan :-)

also thank you Miep for your excellent advise:

As stated previously ;) you can 'claim' your classic seti credits by visiting this page.

also thanks to .... Miep, Chris S, James Sotherden, Dune Finkleberry, soft^spirit, 52 Aces and ... my good friend Scarecrow.

Dear Batai
Hope this helps you
Best Wishes
Byron
