Message 1028351 - Posted: 25 Aug 2010, 18:08:17 UTC

Anyone have an idea of when the servers will be back in working order? It's been a month now since I've been about to request or send results back to SETI.

they are working to get the NTKPKR working which takes server time that would otherwise be occupied by our task uploads/downloads plus all the additional splitting that goes on in that time. they have years of data to sift through. IT appears that this make take sometime to get caught up on. So in the mean time we can just keep a 4 day cache and let our WU's get crunched while we wait

Why didn't you continue your old thread? Why didn't you post while the servers are running?

Did you reboot your computer and/or modem?

Please post the first 20 to 30 lines of your Messages log after a restart of BOINC (preferrably reboot) here, including an update attempt. The update has of course to wait until the servers are up again on Friday.

Gruß,
Gundolf

My computer runs 24x7 has does the boinc manager. So it is running all the time, and trying to connect as well.

The system has been rebooted, and well as the routers. (I have 2 different T1s)

What has changed with your system configuration since 7 Aug 2010 8:20:29 UTC, the last contact to SETI? Perhaps the proxy settings?

As I said, the SETI servers are currently down, but in the meantime, you could prepare a config file to get more information about your server connections.

Copy&paste the following lines to Notepad and save them as cc_config.xml to your BOINC data directory (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC).
<cc_config>
    <log_flags>
        <task>1</task>
        <file_xfer>1</file_xfer>
        <sched_ops>1</sched_ops>

        <file_xfer_debug>1</file_xfer_debug>
        <http_debug>1</http_debug>
        <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug>
        <proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug>
    </log_flags>
</cc_config>

Then select "Read config file" from the Advanced menu in BOINC manager and watch the "log flags:" line in the Messages tab.

You'll get now quite a few additional lines in your log for each update request. So, you should disable network access (Activity menu) until the SETI servers are back again.

Gruß,
Gundolf
