I'm just curious: are work units stored on the users computer permanently? If not does the utility automatically create a destination to which it saves the units? Or are they scattered throughout temporary/system files?

I think this project is a great idea and more than willing to leave it running for the rest of my human life but in order to do this i need to make sure whatever BOINC is downloading is constantly being deleted immediately after re-transfer to SETI servers.

Tasks Work Units and the results files are automatically deleted from your system when the job is completed and reported. Only the Boinc software, the Seti applications that does the analysis and graphics files remains stored on your computer so that they only need to be downloaded once.

Seti tasks are saved to your BOINC Data directory only. More specifically, in the for your Windows 7 default directory of C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\

When a task is done, uploaded and reported, the remaining file is deleted.

You can check on BOINC’s storage use in the Disk tab of the Manager (advanced view). Some projects aren't as good at cleaning up after themselves as they might be, but I've never noticed old S@h stuff accumulating—and at any rate this project uses much less disk space than some of the others.
