Past few days have not been a win..not at all. So the fun continues this weekend and today. Saturday afternoon a judicial candidate for our county court came by campaigning. Rang my doorbell and I answered as I was expecting company. I asked if it was a political-related visit--he said no. He introduced himself and was looking for my wife as she's registered Independent. I then said "So it IS political" and said I wasn't interested and was expecting company and would he please leave. Then he said he wanted to leave literature. I again said No and asked him to leave a tad more firmly stating clearly I'd like him off my property. Then he questions why he can't leave literature. I said, "Do I have to call the Sheriff to get you to leave my property?" He then went but very slowly. I called the Republican HQ this AM and filed a complaint. Then last night a tree fell on my neighbor's property taking my cable and phone with it. Cable wasn't totally out--real real spotty. I thought it was a power cable as we were browning out so I notified them too. Phone/Power Co came--phone line fixed-both came at no charge. Cable Co is going to charge me to fix something caused by a neighbor. |

Ok that does It, I'm going to Consumer Cellular in September If I have enough money and I'm getting a Motorola F3 GSM phone(Should be compatible with AT&T Wireless), CC will provide the Sim Card and they will waive the activation fee since I'm going to do a BYOP type deal and If possible I'm joining AARP which will lower My bill some and They said they can transfer My landline phone number to the cell phone too, Then after service is activated I get to call DSL Extreme and get them to convert My line to Dry Loop, Which will raise My bill for DSL by $5 a month, Plus call PNG Long Distance and tell them I won't be their customer anymore and to send Me a final bill and I may also call Verizon too although that might not be needed. You may want to look into a Pre Payed plan. My sister has one and she loves it because you only pay for what you use. The minutes do expire but if you are careful about how many you buy you should be able to use them up before they expire. I didn't go with one because my company would pay the overage when I used up all my minutes but then AT&T came out with roll over minutes so maybe I should re-evaluate my cell plan. |

That is when I know its time for them to leave home! LOL. That would be a sure sign!!! My oldest has himself a girl somewhere and keeps disappearing to see her. He won't bring her back because apparently I am 'too embarrassing' and all his friends are "scared" of me. Pffft. I just dragged 4 of the boys that are currently in the apartment to the park for an hour. They drove one up to the top of a tree and spent half an hour throwing pine cones at him. Cable Co is going to charge me to fix something caused by a neighbor. His insurance *should* pay for it. Since it is an outside cabling problem, the cable company should not be billing you in the first place. BOINC WIKI |

Oh dear. We ran into a nice engeneer a while back - phone was working intermittently only. Couldn't find anything - 'has to be the phone' (was a pretty old one) 'in which case they are gonna charge you as it's not the line.' :( 2 min later he was back 'I'll just change the wall socket, then you won't be billed' Nice. after it was out he discoverd it WAS the wall socket - heavily hit by corrosion. Ah midnight win and good night :) Carola ------- I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages! |

Cable Co is going to charge me to fix something caused by a neighbor. If the neighbor has insurance, they pay if it is over the deductible. As to the cable company, they didn't plant and maintain a defective tree. Someone has to pay for the repair. They are too stupid to figure out who the owner of the tree is and bill them, so they bill the person who reported the problem. Now as to it being outside, well, if it was a city owned tree, cable company is SOL, but a private owned one, I bet the CC&R's for the easement may well require the owner of said tree to keep it trimmed. Of course it is easier for them to bill and lawyer later. Telco's and power companies are a bit different. Usually they are state regulated, not city regulated and the state regulations shift the liability for the repair onto them and set a demarcation point of a service box attached to the dwelling. With Cable TV that box may be on the pole. In any case it is a shirty thing for them to do. Let us know which cable company to avoid. |
