Never thought to check that before but a check on just one machine came up with over 3000 ghosts. Should have thought to fix that on Friday, this machine ran dry just before the servers came back up. T.A. |

The times I cleared my ghosts was on Friday mornings just after the project comes back up. Just set no new tasks, run down what you have left and detach/attach and redo your app_info. By then most of my work was done and I don't lose too much. It also gives me plenty of time to refill. As for getting back on topic, right after the outage I jumped up to an all time high for me of ~40,000+ pendings. By the next day I was back down to ~25,000. I am now back up to over 30,000 though. Oh,and Questor, I have a bunch of your ghosts I'm waiting on and I think I've seen a couple from Todd too! :-) PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Mine is not working now, like 90% of the time. Its very rare that it works. Nothing for months now. Yep, that's it. There seems to be some limit on when pendings get so large, the page times out before the data can be parsed. Mine are currently visible around 400,000, but I think the limit is somewhere around 700,000, but I could be wrong about that. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Not a miracle. Firehawks RAC of 160k RAC is 50 Times higher than yours and so his Pending Credits will be also 50 Times higher than your Pending Credits. Looks like there is a Limit on the Server of how many Pending Credits can be shown... Helli A loooong time ago: First Credits after SETI@home Restart |

In past with both machines 24/7 running, I had IIRC a peak at ~ 400,000 or ~ 450,000 pendings. And it could be displayed. Hmm.. maybe a 500,000 limit? A nice round value.. X-D |

I dont think its a matter of Credits instead the amount of outstanding valid WUs... Helli A loooong time ago: First Credits after SETI@home Restart |

I dont think its a matter of Credits instead the amount of outstanding valid WUs... Good point, I think you are right. The total shouldn't matter, just the number of units. It just turns out that due to the normal spread, it works out to a loose RAC of somewhere around some number. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. This thread isn't about the value of the pending credits, it's about not being to access the pending credits web page. Although I'm willing to look at BOINC source code, I have no competence in PHP or MYSQL stuff. I'll just say I see no evidence of an explicit limit in the code, so the idea of a timeout or some generic protection from an enumeration which is "too large" seems most likely to me. Joe |

The recent DCF ups and downs have meant I've ended up with way to many WUs after initially having too few. I'm therefore stuck with either keeping the ghost users waiting or if I drop my OK WUs setting a lot of other users back to another long wait for a new wingman. I understand completely. I was stuck with waiting for a bunch of shorty ghosts to time out before clearing the rest or hitting them all at once. I finally waited since the others wouldn't time out until sometime in September. I have been kinda watching those I've cleared and it sure is good watching them get picked up and, in some cases finished, long before they would have timed out on my machine. Isn't there a max number of lines an html page can have ? It's been years since I did something in HTML, so maybe someone else could check into that. |

Perhaps some browsers have limits, it makes programming somewhat simpler if you don't have to deal with situations where part of the data is in the swap file. But I'd expect any of the major browsers to accept at least any file size which fits in memory. There's a largish single page FAQ at http://wwwcompass.cern.ch/compass/software/offline/NTCorner/NTFAQ-Savill/faqcomp/ntfaq_20JUL98.html which may serve as a partial test. Joe |
