Just now.......the day's western sun is setting.

And it shines through the west facing windows in my bedroom.

And shines upon the kitties.

There is not much more beautiful in life than the sun shining on a cat.

All their beauty is exposed. Every portion of their being open to view.

A cat's eyes in the sunlight.....oh, my.

And the silly things look back at you, wondering about your curiosity.

They simply do not know how beautiful they are..

They just don't know.

That is the wonder and wisdom of kitties.

Could I only be so innocent.......

Maybe I was 40 years ago or so.

Hi Kitty People!

I am trying to figure out whether something is normal cat behavior or not. When Zsa Zsa, who is about 6 months old, happens upon "prey" (say a tasty looking bug or a spider out of reach) she meows at it while she tries to stalk and catch it. It seems to me that this is a bad move for a predator. Announcing one's presence to one's intended victim before one "does it in" gives the intended prey a warning and ups the odds that your snack will successfully get away.

We've never had a cat who has vocalized while hunting before, and we've had about 7 cats over the years. Something tells me that if Zsa Zsa were a feral kitty, without the benefit of a food bowl that is filled daily by her dutiful house monkeys, she would hunt so poorly that she would pretty much starve to death.

So is vocally announcing your presence during a hunt in the realm of normal cat behavior? Is Zsa Zsa so sure of her success that she is emiting a victory cry, or does she simply lack kitty cat impulse control?
