Hello everyone....I have been running SETI for about a month now and for the first three weeks it was running like a charm.But this last week I have only received an error message stating that my CPU usage is too high.I went to preferences and set my cpu usage to 0(no restrictions), but that message still keeps cropping up!.Any ideas because I would really like to get back online.Thanks for your time.

Where did you change that preference - online or local?

If you ever have left the local preferences by clicking "OK" there's been created a global_prefs_override.xml file that, as the name suggests, overrides all subsequent changes made to the online preferences. To switch back to the online settings, click the "Clear" button in the local preferences window.

If you want to use web preferences also wait for the end of the
"3 day data distribution outage" - I think your BOINC can't know you changed them
until it can connect to the scheduling server which is now Disabled.


( The last web preferences that your BOINC received from the servers are in the file:
global_prefs.xml

The last local preferences that you set in BOINC Manager are in the file:
global_prefs_override.xml
(this file may not exist)

If any setting is present in both files (e.g. <run_gpu_if_user_active>)
BOINC uses the one from global_prefs_override.xml (local)

As Gundolf said use the [Clear] button if you want to remove local preferences
(this deletes the file global_prefs_override.xml)

And never use [OK] button to just close the local preferences window of BOINC Manager -
use [Cancel] or press <Esc>
)


Of course if you prefer to use local preferences (I use them)
change the settings and press [OK] :)

Also make sure that your BOINC is set to run based on preferences. If it's set to run always, it'll ignore any of the run/idle preferences you set.
