Just watching an interview with Nacy Pelosi and what a joke she is. She won't take a stand on ANYTHING at all. She is not a leader and it blows me away that people keep voting for her. Seems most Speakers of the House have been a bit outspoken on their personal views. Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound! |

But she does take a stand. She is very fearful of the Tea Party and fears they will be violent and also said she would drain the swamp when talking about corruption in congress. |

She is from the Bay area of California. Think Gavin Newsom, Harvey Milk, Jerry Brown, et. al. Her stand is that the person belongs to the government. Just like being a slave to the King. Tea party stand is that a person owns themselves. Just the colonists in 1776. Irreconcilable differences. |

I liked the part on why Democrats don't vote to fund the War in Afganistan..."There are enough Republicans to vote for it"......Other words, Elections aren't quite with us and we have to wait and see what will be popular. Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound! |

Why?? Because she and her friends are spending money at record levels. Money that they don't have. Money that my grandchildren have not even earned yet but they will have to pay back to China. Which means less money left over for them to enjoy life. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

She does not have the congressional checkbook. To focus as the frustration over the financial hemorrage that started with the first George W. Bush Tax rebate is not only unfair, it is also completely groundless. We do need to have some anti trust suits to make sure nothing else becomes "too big to fail" though. I am sure with your concerns you would welcome eliminating tax breaks for oil companies and other companies moving operatons off shore? Janice |

I would welcome a flat 10% tax for every person, every company (large or small). Everyone would pay 10% of their income. No exemptions for anyone or anything. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

I would definately agree with that. heck if it takes 15-20% I could agree with that as well. And so it will not happen. It would cost too many that make too much too much money. Janice |

It could happen if enough citizens elected officials who are willing to actually work for the people and listen to the people, it could happen. The current tax code could be trashed and replaced with a simple 2 sentence tax code for everyone and every company. And I believe this plan would actually increase the governments income. 10% and the country would fail. I already pay 10% what you'd be doing is eliminating a lot of taxes from the rich and punishing the poor. for a flat tax to work you'd have to have a no tax ceiling of about $100k per person or $200K per family. then tax at around 20% on the rest of the people. thats the only way it would work. A flat tax on a minimum wage worker takes away more than he'd pay normally pays. So your suggestion is to radically increase taxes on the poor and radically decrease the taxes on the rich. [sarcasm} Sounds fair to me. [/END sarcasm] In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Actually the "poor" in this country are at a much higher level than the "poor" in other country's. Those of you who have been out of this country know this. I have seen the poor in other country's rumaging throught the dump sites for food or anything they can use at 5:00am before the sun is hot. If they don't find anything they don't eat. I don't see the poor in the USA doing this. In fact I have yet to see a poor person here without a widescreen TV! But as soft^spirit commented, if 15 to 20% us required then so be it. But I would rather see the government reduce it's spending before increasing the flat tax rate. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

SO the poor in the US should be scouring through the dumps? How about your living room while you're at work? Theres a reason we have a higher standard of living here. It protects everyone. I've explained it before but it's simply a matter of you losing your stuff or giving the poor a few dollars a year. I prefer keeping as much of my stuff as possible. So I really dont mind a few handouts for the poor. Besides, and god forbid I actually needed that help I'd certainly would like to have it there for me In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

We have created an entire class of people who are entirely dependant on the government from birth to death. By giving these people a handout (money) without any strings atatched we have lowered there will to provide for themselves. They have a no self respect because they are not earning for themselves or their family. Indeed we reward them for bringing more children into poverty with more money. This is what happens when government "redistributes the wealth". I am perfectly willing to help the poor but I insist that they must begin to help themselves. At least get a high school education that will allow a person to earn a decent wage for themselves and then in turn their self respect increases. A person who has a sense of self worth is a person of value. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

honestly.. 10% might be a slight increase on the bottom, a major break in the middle.. and a HUGE increase across the top... both individuals and corprations. But honestly.. fair is fair. And as a proud liberal.. I believe that is the fairest that could be possible. Well.. actually not possible. Every major corporation and every bank executive in the country would be fighting it tooth and nail. But it should lead to a return to a SURPLUS instead of deficit spending (between the "tax and spend" democrats and the "borrow and spend" republicans.. we have a huge mess). But the deficits are here today. The budget will not balance this year or next. We need to get this rolling again, and the pain continues. Republican stonewalling and posturing is not helping, and offers to work together are being rudely rejected. There should be a balance in things.. and until congress and the senate can work together for the good of the people, we have major problems. Janice |

Correct. Our job now is to elect people who will actually do the will of the people. Not reading the bills they are passing or "we have to pass it before we can see what's in it" is not logical. These people are NOT working for the people. Term limits would go a long way to solve the mirad of problems lifetime politicians introduce into the system. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

honestly.. 10% might be a slight increase on the bottom, a major break in the middle.. and a HUGE increase across the top... both individuals and corprations. Actually 10% would be a huge increase for the poor since they tend to actually always get their taxes all back plus a little more. the rich actually take a huge tax break from this since they currently are at 35% less deductions which usually gets them down to 15-20% depending on their accountants In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. The current tax code could be trashed and replaced with a simple 2 sentence tax code for everyone and every company. My Grandpa (now passed) in Indiana said this 2 sentence tax code was coming 50 years ago - the sentences were.......... 1. How much do you make? ___________ 2. Send it in! :>) Patience - if our politicians keep going the way they currently are - we'll get this very shortly Classic WU= 7,237 Classic Hours= 42,079 |
