I am downloading tasks for seti@home and for quite a while now it has not been downloading any tasks. It trys to download tasks for GPU. However I changed the additional work buffer to 3 days and then it tried to download aditional tasks for CPU and it worked. Why did it change from GPU to CPU. And how do I get it to download only tasks frofor CPU otherwise I wont get any new work? thanks in advance |

It looks like you have an ATI 4000 series GPU which cant run any GPU apps for seti. It is boinc that is requesting the GPU tasks which you can't do. Ignore that request it will ask for CPU tasks the next time it asks for work In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Hmm. Only it did not request work fr the CPU for a couple of days. It just kept asking for GPU tasks. IT was only when I changed the setting ofr buffer work to 10 days that it requested work for the CPU. |

So all the time before BOINC assumed you still had enough work in cache to get by. Mind, when checking the tasks tab, check for the "Show active tasks" and "Show all tasks" button. When it shows "Show all tasks" it's in the Show active tasks state and will only show tasks that are running, waiting to run and suspended. It will not show all those ready to start, ready to report, uploading, or downloading. I mean, you may think you have only got 4 tasks in queue, when in truth there are 264 hidden behind the "Show all tasks" button. (numbers are made up). |

Actually it should be 105 (save for ghosts), so no bad guess ;-) Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. you have a relatively slow GPU so you might actually consider running WU's on your quad as well. More than likely you'd get more work out of the quad than the 8800 In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |
