OK I'm not an idiot, what am I doing wrong? I was told my computer is not attached to this account that I'm posting with?

From BOINC Manager - (localhost) what do I do?

Thanks,
Paul

That has nothing to do with being an idiot (or not:-) but with creating two different accounts.

However, we should keep the problem to one thread. You choose which one.

Thank you. I thought since this was a different topic than the other poster had originated, it made sense to start a new post.

I used to have a Seti account 10 years ago, and am now coming back. Could that be the issue?

Thanks again for your assistance!

I totally agree. :-)

Not really, since you have obviously created an account (San Diego Z06) from which you post, but have attached your computer(s) to another one, probably by not selecting "returning user" when doing so. As soon as we have solved the current problem, we can try to join the classic account.

Did you meanwhile find the "Your preferences" button (see the other thread)?

Gundolf

I tried both the tabs (Projects and Tasks) and don't see a Preferences button anywhere.I have uploaded a few screen pics for your review. http://gallery.me.com/quailpark#100350

As you can see I have a Seti@home project and the image you see is with it being highlighted, but in the Task tab there is nothing to click or highlight? Nevertheless, I can't find the Preferences button you speak of.

Okay, back to square one ;-)

I was misled by your first post
I had the same problem. Now it says "resuming computation".
to believe that you already are successfully attached to SETI, which is not the case! The attach process is still in the initialization phase, which explains why there's only one SETI button in the Projects tab.

So, we'll have to postpone further diagnosing until Friday after the SETI project is back up. Sorry!

Yes, the servers are online again, but severely stressed due to everybody wanting to upload and download at once. So, it might take a few hours until your computer finishes the initialization phase.

Ok my account looks like it has finished initializing my account.

What next? Will it automatically load the work and go to town? How do I see the graphical representation of the work being done?

Thanks,
Paul

Yes, your computer is now visible at your account.

Before you can see the graphical representation of the work being done, you first need work to be done ;-)

Currently the servers are swamped with requests for work, so it may take a while; be patient.

When your computer has downloaded a task, you can go to the Tasks tab in BOINC manager, select a running task (see the Status column) and click the "Show graphics" button.

Meanwhile you could go inspecting the SETI homepage and look for
Special instructions:
For SETI@home Classic participants

Perhaps you can link your SETI classic account to your BOINC account. The BOINC account will then show the original (classic) join date and the number of SETI@home classic workunits you did.

I couldn't find my classic account but that is ok it wasn't used very long so it didn't process much work.

It seems to be working away great now. Thank you so much for your help!
