I'm a new user and get the error 417 at every turn. Three days straight of Scheduler request failed: Error 417. Also I've seemed to have misplaced my BOINC Data directory. Many forums talk of this place but I can't seem to find it to try the "cc_config" route. I would really love to use BOINC but it just does not seem very user friendly. -Mr. Computertarded |

Did you read about the three-day weekly outage at SETI? Since you don't have a computer attached, I can't see your operating system. If it's windows, the data directory is probably hidden. Did you try to attach today? The project is currently up and running. Gruß, Gundolf [edit]Am off to bed now. Try the BOINC FAQ Service or the BOINC Wiki if nobody else comes around :-)[/edit] Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. How to find BOINC Program directory: How to find BOINC Data directory: (the paths listed above on the screen-shots are valid only on my Win98 computer - yours are different, find them the way I show above or using RegEdit: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup] "INSTALLDIR"="D:\\Programs.98\\Science\\BOINC\\" "DATADIR"="D:\\Programs.98\\Science\\BOINC-Data\\" ) Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

thanks, I found the data directory, added the cc_config file restarted boinc, had boink read the file, and then recived the 417 error. I guess BOINC is not for me, thanks for all your help. Uninstalling time now. |

If you want to use cc_config.xml you really need some more "advanced" computer knowledge. (If using Notepad to edit it and finding BOINC Data directory is "advanced") http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration http://www.boinc-wiki.info/Cc_config.xml http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=91 e.g. I use <cc_config> <log_flags> <benchmark_debug>1</benchmark_debug> <work_fetch_debug>0</work_fetch_debug> </log_flags> <options> <save_stats_days>365</save_stats_days> <start_delay>13</start_delay> </options> </cc_config> Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
