I was wondering, with all the hoopla and fanfare reguarding the new Apple iPad:

Is there a SETI@home application made for the iPad?

This could potentially be a new revenue streem to help with the project.

Doubtful as Apple doesn't allow non-proprietary applications to run on its hardware. Besides, you don't just need a Seti app, but a ported BOINC as well.

You need to be a registered developer, having paid for your license, before you're allowed to release applications on the iPad. Without it, running apps on the iPad can potentially damage it and thereby voiding your warranty.

I see the mayor problems with the battery live and overheating, as on all mobile devices.
So far I know is has the iPad also not the fasted CPUs(ARM with about 1 GHz), comparable as on the modern Macs.

One can become an Apple developer just signing up. I am one in order to get access to development documents. The big problems is that Boinc applications are hard on a laptop and would be destructive on a Ipad or Iphone. Boinc would kill battery life and would generate a large amount of heat that could shorten the live of the processor and the battery. I run a Power Mac G5 which is server grade hardware which handles Boinc without problems as long as I keep the dust cleaned out of it. If I neglect cleaning then the heat can cause my computer problems.
