I think your quote is a misquote. It's actually "The Comfort of the Rich depends on the abundance of the poor." Capitalism requires that there be an underclass that can be exploited. Why else would some many jobs be sent overseas from the US to countries with abundant poor. We virtually eliminated the poor by the mid 70's and its taken a good 30 years to eliminate the damned middle class and get back to a rich and poor society  In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face.
