The chance that people will replenish their caches before the next outage, is IMO now 0%, zero%. You don't even need to try, it's useless.

My Laptop managed to almost replenish it's cache, now got a grand total of 30 Astropulse Wu's, enough for about 8 to 10 days,

limit back down to 20, if it is up.. math still bad enough that 1 days work is showing up as 6 days worth..

It seems we are still in the alpha test loop.

Download is botched, the forum is slow, often it times out, pages can't be seen.

Then a few minutes later it works again, and then it can't be reached, times out....

SETI main page often can't be reached, server status page can't be reached. "Your account" can't be reached or loads really slow.

Bandwidth utilization extremely poor too....

Had it worked as it should when the system came online yesterday, there might have been a chance, but not now. Especially not after the nightly crash of the database, which took a few hours to come back from.

I too have had this problem, the chances of me replenishing my cache is 0% as I am getting the new message and only getting 1 days WUS

yeah, I've read that. However, that does not explain the slow network we've had for some hours, since the utilization wasn't even near max.

It's still a strange network, with times of almost impossibility to connect to the web pages.

But since only half of the max bandwidth is uses, the limit on tasks in progress could very well be raised.

Yeah, I dunno what the bandwidth problem and forum stalls are all about.

I have a bit of a background with web servers and things like that. I've seen these types of issues with web sites when databases/database servers crash or become corrupted. I'm thinking the crash has caused some underlying issues to arise now and the issue is related to the database server not being fully functional and not correctly serving the data being requested.

The replica database still seems to be offline too.

By my opinion the actual limit of 20 task in progress is in contradiction with the new schedule (3 days of blackout).
There is no meaning.

I hope that ET, if he is looking for us, can have a better organization and equipment.
I know thak boys in SETI's house do their best but the situation now is seems like some SNAFU.

Bye,
Franz

I think I am going to let my machines run dry and that's it, not that I have much work to begin with. The situation went from bad to bugged to nobody-knows to mega-outage within the past 6 months. Might be a good idea to hope that ET receives our radio and tv spam and comes to visit.

I am not going to leave my computer running just to be busy for 2 hours with those 20 units and then waste electricty for the rest of the day doing nothing. That said, it was nice the past almost 11 years, have a good weekend and bye bye.

Stop back and try again on Monday....supposedly Jeff is going to try taking the 'in progress' limit off Monday morning. The broken quota thingy might still play into it, and of course nobody knows if the servers will stay glued together under the onslaught.
But give it a shot, eh?

I will ride out the storm. I had set my cache for 3 days but noway will I get that. The P4 only has 3 WU's the mac has a lot only because milkway and seti fight over run times. This i7 has 20.
So i will let all run untill the next outage. when they run out they get shutdown. Then on Friday i will cut my cache back down to the .75 day I had before all this mess started.

No Im not complaining, No Im not quitting. When i get work I will crunch it,when I have none, I will save money on my electric bill.

Thats my opinion, you know what they say about that:)

I agree, I am tired of the b/s. We need more money, we need more people crunching, now its OOPS there are too many people crunching. :(

KMA
Now after I check my email, etc;
I will turn off the computer and save money,
due to less electric being used. :)

Barring an outage...I have a few machines that have 20 and report 1 and get 1 more...Won't work well for my i7 but my smaller machines are running.

Hiamps, are you still having to choose between CPU OR GPU? or can you keep them both crunching?

My i7 has 100's of CPU tasks that are all VLars, wish I could send them back to GPU, it does them faster than my CPU....Barely, but at least my room would be warm....Brrrrrrrr reaching for my coat.
