Hi everyone... I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find an answer anywhere so please bare with me ;p I have a dual-boot system (Linux-Kubuntu/Windows XP) and BOINC is installed under both OS's. I wondered if it is possible for it to share a work unit cache between both BOINC installations? From what I've read it looks like this was possible "back in the day" (before BOINC) by using "Seti-driver" on windows and "lin-seti" on linux as workunit cache managers, any way to set up something like that today? BTW I don't do any other projects on BOINC so if I had to I could drop BOINC in favour of a SETI-only solution. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share! |

No, that's not possible. All tasks are registered to the computer hostID that downloads them, that same hostID must also upload & report them. This means that although your other hostID can run the same work, it cannot upload & report it. So best run the work only per ID/OS. |
