Message 1003913 - Posted: 14 Jun 2010, 5:07:46 UTC

Tonight I decided that I wanted to change my Avatar to one I have been using for a while on other sites, but was unable to do so.

First, I uploaded the image from my computer, but when I clicked on "Update," it came back as the same Avatar I had previously. Next, I clicked on "Reset" which eliminated the Avatar altogether.

I then "Browsed" and uploaded the image again. No dice...when I clicked on "Update," instead of the new image I uploaded, the old image came right back into its place.

Is it just me doing something wrong? How might I change my Avatar image?

Thank you!

Did you try to purge your browser cache (ctrl F5 with Internet Explorer)?

The profile pages are cached for a long time. I once had similar difficulties, even the "Edit" button wouldn't appear.

Well, I don't know what happened, but I logged in today and my avatar had been changed.

It's highly unlikely that would have been it. I run Ubuntu Linux and always perform a clean install when upgrading. That would include my browser, which of course is Firefox. It had also been a long while since I visited the website.

At any rate, the issue is mute. I'm not quite sure what happened, but the issue has been resolved. Thanks for the response.

It had also been a long while since I visited the website.

At the moment you visit the web site and your account, your avatar is cached in the browser. When you then change it, it'll keep showing the cached version until the cache is out of date, or you force an update (CTRL + F5).
