My 1st work unit completed after being away for numerous years... but may not have uploaded my first completed work unit back to 'Command Central'.
The 1st unit name/task: ap_21mr07ai_BO_PO_00391_20100527_14411.wu.o / 332:53:23 / 100.000% / --- / 6/22/10 12:05:58 / UPLOADING.
Got several popups saying Boinc can't connect to the internet.
Not sure if my firewall is preventing my completed work unit from phoning home.
It appears to have downloaded another unit to me, and this little unit is already 9% complete... and in RUNNING status.
Clicked on the BOINC Manager... Advanced / Options / Connections is showing Bellsouth.net as oppose to my active DSL connection. This PC was accessing the web via dial-up years ago, and I'm not sure if when Boinc set itself up, it configured itself to the old Bellsouth dial-up connection - which is disconnected. I currently have nothing (BLANK) set as DEFAULT, (and BellSouth could be clicked to make it default)... but I am unable to ADD or set the LAN as default.
I do not have the box checked for: connect via HTTP or PROXY server.

My WindowsXP firewall is currently turned OFF (which I was unaware of) I'm hoping Norton360 turned it off, and is vigulent keeping the scum at bay.
Norton360 has Boinc Client / Manager and Screen Saver listed under apps that the firewall is aware of.

The SEARCH function got me trying this and that for the last 45 minutes, with no positive results. My patience has run out.

Thanks for any help.

The Upload server are off line at the moment probably as a side effect of a server crash Saturday which was partially fixed remotely. I don’t expect upload to be working until the crew goes in to the office on Monday.

BTW In most cases Boinc uses the same configuration as your browser for Internet access. Your firewall may see trafic on port 31415 but that is only internal comunication between the Boinc manager and Boinc's core software.
There's no need for proxies unless your behing a corporate firewall that requires them.

That is because I was taught to remember does seven digits ~45 years ago. Mind you we only used 3 digits on a slide rule calculator.

4 digit slide rules were extraordinarily large and expensive. I saw one once.
