Why is the file size so large with Seti? I have files with anywhere from 28 hours to 42 hours indicated for completion. have i not set something correctly? Rosetta and Einstein projects take far less and will at least finish 1 task in under two days. what's up? |

Rosetta and Einstein projects take far less and will at least finish 1 task in under two days. what's up? The actual files are rather small. The analysis can take some time. The standard multibeam WU take from 3 to 12 hr to analyze with the generic application on the average computer. About half that time if using third party optimized apps. The amount of work required varies depending on how the receiving antennae was moving relative to the earths rotation at the time of the recording. Your estimates are probably still on the high side as it can take some time for Boinc to learn a systems capability for a project and adjust its DCF (Duration Correction Factor). The DCF is used in providing estimated time to completion as well as work fetch. It usually starts off high to avoid getting to much work and is slowly adjusted down after each WU is completed if the estimate was too high. Edit: Astropulse WU take much longer. In the neighborhood of 100 to 150 hrs. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |
