Message 1004097 - Posted: 14 Jun 2010, 17:19:46 UTC - in response to Message 1004096.

Uploads are now going through Mr K looked at it - very slowly but they are going through!

dave

Crap, and here I was hoping for another 24 hours of downtime for the upload server :-)

Sten-Arne

The S@H team probably seen us drinking beer and saying it wont be up till after maintenance. So they decided they'd laugh it up and fix it so we look stupid. :P

Another alternative, they want to get as much stuff into the database as possible so they can clean it up with the maintenance. That way there isn't a huge amount of data still out in the field for an extra week without maintenance maybe?

Yeah, I guess we're looking silly now :-)

Anyhow, I've got lots of WU's already uploaded, and lots of new work downloaded. So even if the system goes down again soon, I just got myself another 10 days of work.

Sten-Arne

Ahh very nice. :) Hopefully i can get a new 10 day cache before it dies.

Yeah a 10 day cache saves you lot of complaining.

Sten-Arne

I totally agree, it's what saved me this whole week. :) I mean sure 10 days is a lot if the servers don't go down. But with maintenance every week it's pretty certain to get through quite a lot of the 10 day cache.

I'll have you know that I don't need SETI to make me look silly, it just comes natural.

Maybe its a conspiracy to slow us big crunchers down so our slower wing men can catch up and reduce our pending credits which are starting to get out of hand lately.

Always thought, thats why you can choose to do some 'Back-Up Projects',
just teasing.

Still have some MB and AP* WU's running, but the latter are going very fast, same time as MB WU's!
[OFF TOPIC]
*SETI Bêta, rev.428 & 434, which is quite fast indeed.
[ON TOPIC]

Makes it very tempting, to UP the cache, but leave it at 3 days, also gives time to do something completely different with your computer, like cleaning(I know it's an ugly word), but still has to be done.
Defragmenting the Harddisks, scan for trojans/other junk, etc. ;-)
And there ARE other thing besides computers......

Drinkin beer, gett... .... .. .......

[ADDED]Still can NOT UPload and much work isn't present, yet.

That's what I did. The irony is that my rig is now much faster than it was. But I also had a lot of software to install, bringing up the total capability of my rig. I even got the girls dancing on the screen when I want!

Congratulations to whomsoever extracted the finger from the hole in the dyke. Maybe a Dutch footballer? Anyway, all work uploaded and reported.

May all our troubles be little ones and thanks a million to the Seti staff.

I can't see any new WU's from here at work, but my RAC just started shooting up at about 100 points every 5 minutes. It may be my wingmen reporting in against my pendings. I should know in about 30 minutes, but I must admit it feels good to be climbinng again.

My pendings are decreasing, and I still see no WU's so the boost must be coming from my wingmen. Thank you wingmen! What a time for the wife to want to go shopping after work. :)

Well, based upon that result, a worthwhile late spring clean!

If it's asking, that's the best you can do.

Otherwise - yes, it's wait and see time.

Luckily not all participants read here and are tempted to do the same. It would surely cause major server problems if all hosts tried for a 10 day cache. The option is offered for those who feel they need it, and the project has not used the protective measure of setting a maximum number of tasks any host can have in progress. If they were forced to set a limit, it would only affect the most productive hosts.
