Hi there,

I just installed one of my new servers with Ubuntu Server 10.04 and wanted to install BOINC client to it.

I have done this following the BOINC-wiki with the apt-get command
sudo apt-get install boinc-client

After it installed I tested if the client worked by typing
boinccmd --get_state

Wich ofcourse told me that there where no projects or whatsoever at the moment, but I assumed because I still could see the following on screen:

======== Projects ========

======== Applications ========

======== Application versions ========

======== Workunits ========

======== Results ========

...that the client was working ok.

To attach the seti project to the boinc client I needed my key wich I got with the command

boinccmd --lookup_account http://setiathome.berkeley.edu [MYEMAIL] [MYPASSWORD]

So I tried to attach my setiathome project to the client by using the following command, [KEY] = ofcourse the result from the previous command.

boinccmd --project_attach http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ [KEY]

after that I tried to update the project so it would start...
boinccmd --project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu update

And gave the command to show me the boinc status

This now show me my project under ===== Projectc ===== but only the URL of the project. name, username and team stay blank, and the "NRPC Failures" keep adding up.

I have searched my ass off to find out what I'm missing but I can't seem to find it. I did find another post about NRPC failures but that didn't have any answers for me.

What am I missing? this is getting kind of frustrating now I'm taking more time to get BOINC to run then I spend on installing and setting up the complete webserver itself.

Help obi-one?....

PS: Don't know if it matters, but the OS is Ubuntu Server 10.04, on it runs Apache, MySQL, PHP, OpenSSH, Samba (with SWAT) and BOINC client. There is no GUI installed and I intend keeping it that way.

The Seti scheduler is off line, so you can't attach to the project. This will probably stay this way until after Tuesday's outage, but can also be longer than that. Keep an eye on the news on the front page and in the News forum.
