Speed of light travel now possible!!!

I believe that Mankind travelling at the speed of light is now possible. Its possible because of the recent announcement that Craig Venter has created Synthetic life; BBC news story; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science_and_environment/10132762.stm

How can we travel at the Speed of light???
Ok, humans travelling at the speed of light won't be possible straight away, but it is no longer science fiction. Fast forward a few years to the stage when mankind has perfected the ability to create Synthetic life, just as Craig Venter has done. At that stage, once the technique is perfected, we can copy the human DNA code for any person on earth and recreate a second copy of the person, less the memories and life experience.

If we can recreate a copy of the person here on earth, then we can also radio the DNA information to the Moon, Mars, or any nearby exoplanet at the speed of light. Then all you need is another laboratory at the destination where the DNA information is sent and you can recreate the person there!!!

Hence you have sent a person, or the DNA information to create that person at the speed of light, dramatically reducing the time it takes to travel anywhere in space.

Now there are a couple of ways to look at this. One scenario would mean first sending a human crew on a rocket with a "Human recreation" laboratory or machine. That crew would have to go through all the problems associated with travelling massive distances in space. The problems of building the massive rocket, carrying all the food, air, water and fuel for the trip, very difficult.

The other way would be to just build a much smaller and cheaper unmanned rocket complete with a fully automated machine that would travel to its destination and then, when it receives its DNA instructions, it builds the person. Then we would have two of the same person so we would kill the person thats here on earth. An ethical problem, i know, but not really when you know the person has been recreated somewhere else.

I know that there are many blanks that i have not filled in here. But i'm sure many of you will agree with me that within a few years or decades, humans travelling at the speed of light will be possible, at least sending the DNA information will be possible anyway!! And given enough time, i bet we will also crack exactly how to copy the human memory information too. I also speculate that we will eventually crack the whole lot and be able to fully recreate the fully working adult person complete with memory in a few hours or days meaning that the full adult person will appear at the destination instead of creating a brand new foetus or new baby that would require years of care and attention.

Certainly an intriguing idea.
Don't see the necessity to ellimate the host human on earth.
I would be quite happy with a copy of me,
as long as he was a few light years away :)

Why are folk so uptight about cloning?

Imagine 20 Stephen Hawkings, 20 Einsteins, 20 Carl Sagans along with the other genius physicists out there working together in multiples?
That would advance science no end.

I also see nothing intrincically wrong with breeding a worker society,
physically endowed for manual labour,
or genetically adapted to be resistant to environmental hazards.
The bees do it. So do ant colonies.
In a new reinvented society it would work,
particularly if we colonised another planet,
and never ever adopt the political systems we have here on earth.
Oh, and while we are at it on colonising another planet,
mandatory to leave earthly religions at home.
Come up with a new one that integrates the best of each.
But only one.

Cloning would only cause a problem among the unscrupulous,
which is probably inevitably unavoidable.

It could provide untold good though if a loved one, particularly a child,
died in an accident and could be reborn.

Anyway, I would like to see the technology proven though.
Maybe there are cloned humans already,
in some covert laboratory.
