This is a multi-part problem which may or may not have an easy solution. I became involved with SETI@HOME many years ago. My original project username was ProfessorBarnhardt and I was using "classic" (pre-BOINC) software. Soon, though, the software outpaced the ability of my system to run it ... so I dropped offline (sigh). But apparently, in 2008 (I don't remember this, really), I created a new project username, AlecWest, which I can still log onto. The account was opened in May 2008 - and last contact was August 2008 (acccording to the account page). FWIW, it was around that time that I had two catastrophic hard drive crashes that put me out of commission for a while. The email address used in that account is still valid, BTW, though I don't use it often (web-based). Just a couple of days ago, I decided to get involved again ... this time using two computers. And, I created a new project username, MadAsHell - because I couldn't remember creating the AlecWest account - nor did I have any idea how to (or if I could) access account info on ProfessorBarnhardt (blush). In any event, here's the issue. Can someone check to see if my ProfessorBarnhardt account still exists - and if there are "credits" listed on that account? I know I have credits under my AlecWest account. And could these credits be "migrated" over to my new MadAsHell account - closing out the previous 2 accounts? Regards, J. Alec West (aka ProfessorBarnhardt, AlecWest, and MadAsHell) |

Note that this is still me ... the same person ... logged in under my old AlecWest account. Regards, J. Alec West (aka ProfessorBarnhardt, AlecWest, and MadAsHell) |

There's only one ProfessorBarnhardt to be found from the User search link (see the COMMUNITY link on top of this page): SETI@home member since 19 Aug 2003 Country United States URL http://novelhost.net Total credit 515 Recent average credit 0.00 SETI@home classic workunits 232 SETI@home classic CPU time 4,429 hours I would try to reactivate this one, because it has the classic account linked. This link can only be done once and accounts can't be merged. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Boinc/Seti doesn't use Username to identify accounts. The unique identifier is the Email address that the account was created with. If that Email is still valid you can request that a temporary login key be sent. You can then log in to the account with the key and setup a password. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |

Note that this is still me ... the same person ... logged in under my old AlecWest account. You have to decide which of the 3 BOINC accounts you want to use in the future - they can not be merged. When attaching to project use the e-mail address defined in the chosen account. You can anytime change the name of the account (e.g. ProfessorBarnhardt -> J_Alec_West) It is good to read (HOME page - left-middle) Special instructions: * For SETI@home Classic participants http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_classic.php You already Claimed your SETI@home Classic workunits (by using BOINC with account ProfessorBarnhardt) - these Classic workunits will remain forever connected to this account (no matter if you change its name or e-mail) Can you Log-in to ProfessorBarnhardt account? It seems to me that you can - your computers "travel" between the 3 accounts the last few days. . Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
