Need some advice here. My GPU used to work but no longer. These days I am getting messages such as: 5/26/2010 11:53:07 AM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for GPU 5/26/2010 11:53:08 AM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 5/26/2010 11:53:08 AM SETI@home Message from server: No work sent 5/26/2010 11:53:08 AM SETI@home Message from server: No work is available for Astropulse v5 5/26/2010 11:53:08 AM SETI@home Message from server: Your NVIDIA GPU has insufficient memory (need 254MB) 5/26/2010 11:53:08 AM SETI@home Message from server: Your NVIDIA GPU has insufficient memory (need 384MB) I would like to point out that I never had these messages with 6.10.18. Also the system I am using is 3 months old. I should not need to buy a new system every time you guys come up with new release. To be honest I can not afford it any way. Is there anything I can do short of buying new system? Here is my system info: 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.56 for windows_x86_64 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Data directory:------------- 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Running under account -------------- 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz [Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10] 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Processor: 3.00 MB cache 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 syscall nx lm tm2 pbe 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Enterprise N x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00) 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Memory: 3.75 GB physical, 7.50 GB virtual 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Disk: 149.05 GB total, 94.25 GB free 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM Local time is UTC -4 hours 5/26/2010 11:41:30 AM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 9300 / nForce 730i (driver version 19745, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.1, 240MB, 38 GFLOPS peak) |

That's not (entirely) a BOINC/SETI problem but an nVidia driver/CUDA-version issue. And besides, you still can use your CPUs. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) SETI@home classic workunits 3,758 SETI@home classic CPU time 66,520 hours |

That's not (entirely) a BOINC/SETI problem but an nVidia driver/CUDA-version issue. I do use the CPU... But so slow... According to Nvidia I am using the latest drivers they have available for my system (driver version 19745, CUDA version 3000). I believe they are the same as when I used the 6.10.18 version. Any ideas? Thanks |

According to Nvidia I am using the latest drivers they have available for my system (driver version 19745, CUDA version 3000). I don't have a CUDA device myself, but as far as I know, it's happened with the newer drivers and higher CUDA versions that fewer memory got recognised. Gruß, Gundolf |
