I've walked 2 miles in your shoes dude. I don't have the luxury of affording 6-7 computers, as i get a whole 300 dollars a week for my family and kids. House, car, bike payment. $8000 in solicitors fees in the past 18 or so months. I didn't need to ask the world what the right thing to do was. Common sense dictated that.

When something bothers me, i "whine" to my family and friends. Not air it to the world. I should be so lucky? My friends are near where i live, family at home.

Compared to you, in that respect, i have an overabundance of luck.

In no way have i made fun of your current affliction. I may have said a few things untoward, and unwarranted. For that i apologize.

My proposal was a simple one. You have far too many computers. Sell them. Money for an operation appears. Now that's an easy remedy. Would your world come to an end with less computers? Doubtful.

And your problem would be solved.

On a side note, what's with the threat? The wrath of your friends? Wtf is that about? Being ignored, banned? Dude, my life would go on unphased, unchanged.

I come here to read some interesting posts from time to time. I enjoy doing that.

From experience a few years ago when there was a similar situation, with several posters getting up the noses of a considerable group. We learnt the hard way the best approach was to post around the tormentors.

Leave their posts visible in the thread, for completeness, but post around them as if their post was not there. I am sure after a time repeating-and-repeating their mantra they will get fed up with being ignored and move on.

For those who cannot stop reacting, and giving succor for the next disagreeable post, the Forum has provided a means. This is to go to -

/Your Account/Community Preferences/Message Filtering/Filter User - Ignore message board posts and private messages from these users/

Now enter their user ID in the oblong box, then click on "Add user to filter". Finally, click on Update, just below the User ID number box.

The only bit of any of his posts you will see will be the bits where another poster reacts and quotes him.

It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Well, not been on the site for a few days, but read of your eye problem with sympathy Mark. There is only one decision to make, how quickly to get the operation. Go for the best you can afford. Give up the ciggies, switch off most of your crunchers and turn off the lights. Your sight is very precious.

My wife had a retinal detachment 5 years ago and had eye surgery, that put her at high risk of a cataract and she got that done last year. she was phlegmatic about it, although I was like a cat on a hot tin roof. She is one brave lady. Her eyesight is now reasonable and she can get on with life.

So .... go for it.

Hmmmmmmmmm...

I wish to say, if I could have my way,
that things would be different than they are.

I have an Uncle who is an Eye Surgeon and had breakfast w/ him this morning. I asked him specifically about meow-man's condition and he expressed grave concern about the alcohol use and it's involvement in the situation.
