is there a way that the program will only turn on when the screensaver becomes active. right now i have set the screensaver time as 15 min and the computer being idle as 15 minutes. But if i turn off the screensaver i don't want the program to be active...

If you mean that BOINC loads when the screen saver starts and unloads when the screen saver stops, no, that's not possible.

BOINC has to be running before the screen saver does anything useful. Only on the Macintosh will the screen saver activate the client if it's not running. In Windows that's no longer the case. If the screen saver starts and BOINC isn't running, the screen saver will show that BOINC isn't running and do nothing else.

Now then, you can set your preferences to run programs under BOINC actively when the computer is otherwise idle. In the computing preferences, set:

- Suspend work while computer is in use? Yes.
- 'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last 3 minutes

Make sure that the screen saver starts 1 minute after you allowed BOINC to start work when idle, as else it'll show that BOINC is suspended.

But, I see you have an Nvidia videocard with a 9600 GPU and that you have CUDA work. Running the screen saver together with doing work on the GPU is not recommended, as the GPU is busy doing calculations. When it then also has to show OpenGL graphics, it can result in producing erroneous tasks. The graphics application is only available for CPU tasks, there isn't any on the CUDA app for this very reason.

(OpenCL can work together with OpenGL, but there aren't any OpenCL apps on this project yet)

the only reason i ask was because on the older version of the seti program when it was just a program and not going through this boinc thing.... the screensaver activated the seti program and i was wondering if that is possible with this newer version. Thank you for answering my question.
