i have about 300k pending credit. after the last outage it went up to almost half a million. i would like fix somehow :(

There is nothing YOU can do to fix it.

You've done your part - crunched your WUs and reported them.
Now it's up to all those wingmen to get in gear and get their WUs crunched and reported.

Until they do their part, all you can do is wait - and keep crunching new work.

During the first few of these 3-day outages, a lot of crunchers quit, and there have been problems with Ghost WUs- Tasks that were assigned just before or right after an outage but never downloaded properly, due to server overload and maxed-out bandwidth. These WUs have to time-out and be reassigned, so it could take a few (6-8) weeks until somebody turns in the 2nd result on them. But eventually, they WILL get done, and your pendings will turn into credits.

Around here, patience is not just a virtue - it's a requirement.

I just finished two AP WUs that are sitting in pending. They are both showing as claiming 1294.84 credits. Have they adjusted the credits back up on APs again or is that just dreaming?

Astropulse_v505 is now using NewCredit too, i've found if your task is paired with a wingman that takes a lot longer to do do the task,
then you get more credit, up to about 4200 Credits, but most of mine have been around 600 to 800 Credits, who knows if it'll scale up, or down,

The claim is still calculated from the reported fpops_cumulative, and the server-side credit_multiplier has been deprecated, so all full run AP tasks will indeed show 1294.84187962963 rounded to two decimal places on the pending list. Granted credit ignores that completely, though.

Have we really lost the plot now...you get more credit for waiting for someone to return a result...just set your cache to 10/10 and you will wait a long time for your wingman to return a result...really easy to game this one...

No, it just showed more claimed credit on the pendings page. I was only granted around 500-650 credits each depending on blanking,the time of day, weather conditions, how the validater felt that morning,ect.!!! :-)

The New Credit system is probably still in transition into reality.
Be prepared for lot's of head scratching if you read the referenced link.

pending credit at 748k+...first time it has shown a decline...i suspect that we may be over the hump and slowly heading towards a new steady state position...TA..if this is an indicator, then you may be able to see your Pending soon...

Don't feel bad - I have 38,800 Work units pending (not credits-that is over 4M)
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?userid=36990&offset=38800&show_names=0&state=2

I have more pending work that many people have total - and they are the ones complaining about this problem. It will come to pass that some day this issue will be resolved. Getting the new server running the master science database will help a great deal. As well as the users catching up from past problems that were rampant for a period of time here.

Just be thankful that we really havn't had any serious issue in the past month and there has been plenty of work to go around for everyone. That is a blessing in and of its self.

Just venting a little here and asking a question. Just changed app but keeping same client, to see if there would be much of a difference in WU times from this:

<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name>
<version_num>517</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>AK_v8_win_x64_SSE3.exe</file_name>

(replacement app originally had version number 603, but I changed it back to 517 a day late and a dollar short, so what you will see below is after the fact) which was running before I just made the change a few minutes ago, at an avg. 6 to 7 hours a work unit x2 (3 yr old laptop I bought off a friend for $200, that I have upgraded from an AMD Sempron 3400+ 1.8GHz single core with 1Gig 333MHz RAM with XP Pro to an AMD Turion x64 x2 2.00GHz (max BIOS supposedly will support) and 4Gigs 667MHz dual channel DDR2 w/ Win 7 x64 Pro - Service Pack 1) Below is what BOINC says w/ benchmark:

Processor: 2 AuthenticAMD AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 [Family 15 Model 104 Stepping 2]
Processor: 512.00 KB cache
Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 htt pni cx16 syscall nx lm svm rdtscp 3dnowext 3dnow
OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, v.178, (06.01.7601.00)
Memory: 3.87 GB physical, 9.68 GB virtual (128MB reserved for Video card)
Disk: 1900.22 GB total, 807.99 GB free
1877 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
4248 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

Notice the SSE3 is missing from it's report? Doesn't make any sense, because I know for a fact my processor(s) have SSE3 support.

Here's what CPUID CPU-Z says (Shortened version)

So, from what you saw up top (App_Info) to this:

<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name>
<version_num>517</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>AK_v8b_win_SSE3_AMD.exe</file_name>

I made the mistake of not checking the app_info.xml file before restarting BOINC to make sure everything was in order, and I just lost over 50 completed WU's from about 4 days or so worth of work, all because I forgot to check and because there was the wrong freakin version number on the app_info file, BOINC Manager erased all my WU's, completed and pending, so I went back and fixed it, and they are all still gone. Anyway to recover these WU's (I suspect not)? If not, how can I speed up my crunch time? Which app and/or client should I use? What do I need to change or modify in the app_info.xml file?

Changed app_info.xml back to new vs. 603 since I can't seem to recover the WU's I lost, to try and see if it's any faster (whenever the servers come back online) and also wait for a reply anxiously to see if there is any way to improve my crunch time. Still pretty pissed and bummed out about all those WU's. That's definitely gonna hurt my RAC, and my team's RAC and overall score. Just started my team a few days ago and we can use all the WU's and credit we can get. If there is anyone out there that wants to or are even thinking about leaving an old team, join us, please, by all means, join us, and thanks everyone in advance for any help you can provide.

The "pni" capability stands for Prescott New Instructions and is the same as SSE3.

Sorry about the lost tasks, the old AK_v8 packages from May 2008 did indeed have version_num fields for 517, 527, and 528 which were appropriate at the time both for those going optimized from stock as well as those upgrading from KWSN 2.4x optimized. The intent was that whichever of the 3 entries matched would be used to finish previously downloaded work, and new work would be assigned to 528. The February 2009 AK_v8b releases similarly had 528 and 603 entries to make that transition. Now there's only 603 which is correct for those coming from stock and ought to be correct for those who have followed the expected progression of optimized builds.

When BOINC deletes work because there is no matching app_version, it doesn't even report that to the servers, so those lost tasks are now ghosts. That indeed will make longer lasting pending for some other users...

Since a lot of MB task's were computed in a day or less, my pending reached an all time high: Pending credit: 126,767.71

Anyway only a few with completed, but no consencus yet, wingmen had -9, f.i.,
validators will have a busy time :-)

I'm not really bothered about credit myself. I don't do this for any hypethetical credit, just so that my CPUs and GPU are doing something other than checking a security camera and goofing off all day waiting for me to come home and give them a workout to fulfill the real reason they exist. However I am sure whoever has the other copy of 22ap10ae.24826.67.14.10.249 waiting for me to return it will be miffed to learn that I finished it on August 7th just like you, but it appears the server simply lost track of that return.

I know I could maybe look up who you are, but CBA. Its not that big a deal to me. I've waited patiently for it to re-appear, but so far no luck. My graph for the project takes a dip then but other projects don't, so I suspect there were others for SETI that simply went AWOL too.

Sorry dude, you will just have to wait for someone else to get it when it expires on 24th Sept. On the plus side, I still have stuff waiting since July 4th & 5th.
