I just finished a huge work task but was not credited. Dennis Harrison Igou, who do I contact for this matter?

(one always have a wingman working on the same WU)

Wish that were true!!! I've got a bunch sitting waiting to time out because my wingman has disappeared. :-)

I'm just complaining, Dennis, many pending work units time out because the wingman has quit or something has happened to his computer. This is all part of the game. Once the work unit reaches it's time out date it is sent out again to another cruncher to complete.

I see the work unit in question is an Astropulse. these can take some time to complete and it looks like your wingman may take a few days to get to the unit you completed. Be patient, the credits will come.

Here is my oldest "pending".

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=550560883

As you can see, it is a GPU task.
I have completed it the same day (2 Jan 2010)
Other cruncers give 1 Error while computing and 2 Timed out - no response
An other one in in progress, since 18 april and I suppose a new Time Out in 3 days.

Same story for second oldest
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=551136063

I think that the problem can be investigated starting from the situation of the other cruncher in the same workunit.

Yeah, I forgot about all those "This looks interesting, I think I install this" types.

Not only. There are a lot af partecipants leaving the project, week after week.

http://www.teamocuk.co.uk/cprojectpart2.php?p=SAH

Global RAC is not growing and leaving of partecipants grows in the same days of tecnical problems.
http://www.teamocuk.co.uk/cprojectcred2.php?p=SAH

But it's very strange that the same workunit meets 3 times users leaving the project.

Weeeeeeeeeeeee, pendings are bouncing all over the place. Had over 18,000 before the outage, finally got my uploads to go through and jumped to over 21,000. Now down to below 20,000 after just a few minutes.(probably even lower since I started typing!) :-)

I would venture a guess that a lot of it has to do with summer approaching. I know I shut down my boxes due to the rising Florida heat.

I took a look also, my oldest one is from last year! (let's see if the next one will time out also :p)

This feels like I have a savings-account, I don't mind my savings-account growing ;)

my pending ratio is just under 5 but that may be misleading due to my medium to large cache

What would the pending ratio have to do with the cache size? :-)

Small cache --> fast turnround --> first to return --> no wingmate --> pending
Large cache --> slow turnround --> second to return --> wingmate --> not pending

thanks Richard. you got my point exactly. Though I still have an increasing pending list like others and am wondering if its server side or just a bunch of non returns/VLAR killed WU's or better yet someone with an even larger cache than me

I see first signals of decrease in the pending.
RAC is growing UP.

Probably the guys with the jumbomachines don't mind to keep a a big load of pendings.
However, does it make sense that someone has more than 10'000 workunits on his account "in process".

Matter of fact I have only four units pending, which is in comparison to others "small fry", it is however frustrating to have to wait for the credits for extended periods. My oldest "pending case" goes back to the beginning of February.

Is the following proposal outrageous?

Limit the daily workload to 50 units max and shorten the processing time to 20 days.

This subject is or might have been already discussed elsewhere, but then I could not locate it.

Any comments will be appreciated

I'm not sure that would work, as I and others will crunch 50 units in an hour. Plus many use multiple computers, which adds to the pendings. For my one rig, pendings are around 180,000+. I did get a few timed out units a couple of days ago, and they were the first I had ever seen. I carry a 6 day cache, but came within an hour of depleting my GPU units during the last unscheduled outage. The SETI crew got things working much faster than I was predicting, and my rig re-fed itself before the scheduled Tuesday outage.

The present limits are just about right, if we have a few days where all the multibeam tasks are VHAR, shorties, then the top computers need about 2000 tasks/day to keep then going if they are on 24/7.
