I check the "My Results" page. I'm curious, out of the last ~250 task I have completed. 95% are "Completed, waiting for validation". I have more tasks Pending than have been validated in the last couple of months. I'm done cooking SETIs data until it's caught up. |

It is just because each task has to be completed twice, once by you, and once by another person before it can be validated. Certain people have large caches of work units, and therefore, it takes them a long time to complete them and upload the results. This is what causes the huge amounts of pending credit. Also don't forget that validated work units will be removed from your task list after a short period of time!! Therefore you probably have many many more validated work units than you are aware off. |

Along the same lines as the poster...I have a validation inconclusive message...does that mean I get no credit for that WU? Thanks. |

nope, your wingmans results aren't quite close enough to yours. That just means that a 3rd person needs to look at the WU to confirm the results In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

nope, your wingmans results aren't quite close enough to yours. That just means that a 3rd person needs to look at the WU to confirm the results Validation inconclusive means that there is not a match. There are three possible outcomes from the third task. Note that there are two different levels of match for SETI. 1) The third could be a distant match with both of the first two and all three get credit. Or it could be a close match to one and a distant match to the other - still all three get credit. 2) The third is a close match to one of the two but not a match with the other. In this case the two that match get credit. 3) There is neither a close match between two nor a distant match between the three. This will generate a 4th task. Similar rules apply to the match with the 4th, although it is certain at that point that one of the tasks will NOT be getting credit. BOINC WIKI |

I check the "My Results" page. You have: Credit: 146,147 RAC: 1,205 Let say that one validated task gives ~100 credit. So since Mar 3 10 you have 146147/100 = 1461 validated tasks (they disappear from the list after ~24 hours) Every day you have about 12 validated task (RAC/100) or Every day you have about 14 validated task (1461 validated tasks / 105 days since join date) Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Thanks friend for the explanation. Is there a forum where I can learn all these facts with BOINC and SETI? |

Thanks friend for the extended explanation! I learn more each day. Is there a reference for the SETI crediting criteria that you draw this knowledge from? |

I would say that most of what we know about Boinc and Seti has been gleamed over time from personal experiences and regularly reading of discussions on the various forums. For some general information you could check out the unofficial Boinc Wiki (link in my signature). It is a bit outdated in some areas, since the person who originated it dropped out, but you can still get a general sense of how things work. If you have specific questions this is the place to ask. There's usually someone around willing to pass on the knowledge they have accumulated. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |
