I have noticed that, with every PC I have doing WUs,it looks like the WUs with the most immediate Report Deadline are NOT the ones being worked on. I believe my WUs are being finished before the deadline, I was just curious how BOINC decides which WUs to do first. Thanks. |

The tasks are done First In First Out with round robin among projects, as long as no task is in danger of missing its deadline. Then BOINC switches to Earliest Deadline First (high priority) mode. Thanks for the reply. I didn't think it was a problem, just did not know how that scheduling worked. |

The inputs to the simulator that determines what tasks need High Priority mode include: Duration Correction Factor / project, report deadline for each task, estimated CPU time left per project, fraction of time BOINC is on, fraction of time that BOINC allows processing, your "Connect Every X" setting, resource share for each project, and a few other items that I am certain I have forgotten.
