1 minute and counting... Greetings Dan, I had a major heart attack last night! Well, not a real one, a virtual one. ;) After getting BOINC installed and running, I found out that running CUDA WUs slows my video display WAY down! So, I disabled running CUDA in BOINC. Here's where the heart attack happened: My i7-860 has an upper temp limit of 72.xxC, so I set my Asus alarm to go off at 70C. We were watching TV and suddenly there was a MAJOR alarm coming from my i7 speakers. WHAT THE FRELL!? BOINC finally got 8 CPU WUs and started working on them. The temp went WAY over my upper threshold and set off the alarm. I shut down BOINC. This morning, after working with some settings in BOINC and temporarily disabling Hyper-Threading in my BIOS, for now, I now have BOINC working on 4 WUs and at a comfortable 58C. Looks to me like I will have to invest into another piece of hardware, an industrial strength CPU cooler. Oh, and I have BOINC running on my 64 bit Linux box, the Core 2 Duo, too. No Hyper-Threading though. Intel pulled that tech from the dual cores, for whatever reason, and have since put it back into the quad cores. Once I have things all ironed out and stabilized, my RAC and credits should skyrocket! Woohoo!!! :D Keep on BOINCing...! :) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Bouncing in quickly through the front door, double somersault across the living room, a handstand in the kitchen, then pole vaulting out the back door ....... That last movement ... was it a pole vault or a pole dance? It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Hi John. Good to be back. And I know she does. Working on it. :) Had a little computer malfunction. (If Janet J. can have a wardrobe malfunction, I can have a computer malfunction.) Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

Hi John. Good to be back. And I know she does. Working on it. :) Nice to see you back Kenzie. I've been enjoying how your politicians here in BC resign then unresign then resign again. It's like musical chairs. Reality Internet Personality |

The problem is that no-one these days takes politicians seriously. Unfortunately, they have a serious impact on our world. In the UK in the next 24 hours, we will either have a minority government of Conservative and Northern Ireland, or a coalition government of Conservative and the Lib Dems. Conservative government? The very party that laid the foundations for the de-regulated banking system that got everyone into this mess in the first place? I am so glad I've left the country. Reality Internet Personality |

Labour OTOH had 13 years to reinstate Banking regulation, but were too keep to flirt with the wide boys of the investment vulture capitalists. Moreover, they oversaw the biggest UK national debt the UK has ever seen in its history (worse than when we were nearly bankrupt at the end of WW2). They have the audacity to say "elect us to sort out all the mistakes we have made during the last 13 years, especially those since the unelected Labour Prime Minister has been in 10 Downing Street".
