Waaaay back in the day I was a user of the original Seti@Home application. I had an email address with the first high-speed internet in the area, "Shaw@Home". Unfortunately, Shaw@Home changed to just "Shaw" and my email changed from "@home.com" to "@shaw.ca".

Seti@Home was still chugging away and I didn't think anything of it until BOINC came around, and in September 2005 and I realized I had totally forgotten my password and recovery proved impossible thanks to my registered email being invalid. Sadly at this point I had resigned myself to creating a new account, which I've used on and off to this day (I haven't done a lot of crunching in the last couple of years mostly thanks to doing most of my computer stuff on a laptop).

Anyway, I installed BOINC here at work to test out my new Core i5 750 desktop computer (mostly to see if it melts into a pile of goo) and I noticed the option to import classic credit with a now-invalid email address! I attached my old email to my current BOINC account and got a big grin when I saw my account creation date change to July 1999, and 397 classic work units completed.

Not bad for a 14 year old with a Pentium 166, haha. Later that year I upgraded to a "monster" Celeron 433. I can't believe how much faster this i5 is than every other computer I've owned (I currently have a Core 2 Quad Q6600 at home) and it's not even top of the line...

Here's to another 11 years of Seti@Home!

Welcome to the boards. And isnt new technology great. I crunched classic with a P1 for years. When I finally upgraded to the P4 thats still running now, I could not beleive how fast it was. But the i7 smokes it bad.
