Hi there Space Aces!

I am brand new in SETI and I am wondering if and how I could search where I want (would like to search in the Andromeda Galaxy) Is that possible !? Thx for answers and good luck on our search! Maybe E.T. will give us a call!? ;-)

We can't listen this far - AFAIK the max distance we can "hear" is ~50 light years.

No - we can't choose. Even the project can't choose where and when to look.

How will I know if a signal is detected?

You could do an advanced forum search (link in top left corner of this page) for "Near Time Persistency Checker" (without quotation marks). Be sure to select Search limits of 1 year.

I am assuming that you want to know if an interesting signal is detected. This, unfortunately, requires re-observation of the same location on different nights to see if the signal persists. This is what NITPICKER does, it checks observations on different nights to see if there is a persistent signal. There is no way for you to determine this just by watching your computer.
