Hello All, I usually do not paricipate in the Message Boards but I have a nagging question; maybe one of you out there has the answer.... Let's assume that one of our tasks actually has a hit that is verified to be extra terrestrial in origin. What now? Is there a protocol, will be owner of the computer that got the task in the first place be recognized? Just curious.... |

Hello All, A lot of things have to happen. As each work unit has another computer verify it, there is a second person. But one work unit does not make for ET. Several work units at the same spot each with a signal makes for an interesting target. Then some time in the future a radio astronomer will point a telescope in that direction and do a focused inspection. Then if that inspection looks like ET he will send a telegram to the bureau and have other astronomers point other telescopes at it. Then if there is consensus ET will get declared. At that point I believe the computer owners will get their names attached. I'm not sure if there is a protocol for who gets listed first, but the astronomer's name will be before the computer owners. |

Then we all go to Guido's place for the party. :D Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |
