If thats a Dansette, I had one of those in 1956!

In 1956 the Cuban rebel leader Fidel Castro returned from Mexico with 81 armed men, including his Argentine-born communist supporter Ernesto "Che" Guevara and began to wage guerrilla warfare against the forces of dictator Fulgencio Batista.

My Dansette, in the colour shown, made it from 1956 to 1961. My music maker before that was limited to

The trouble was the normal pop tunes on the Small vinyl records were chewed up by the needle and the weight of the trumpet.

I am not sure if this is the same tune as my very first pop tune purchase. But it was an extended play vinyl titled "Dynamite", bought around 1953 and played until it wore out.

Ah yes Dan, those were the single play ones, we had them in the UK as well. The thing with the more advanced Dansette was it had a stabilising arm and a multi-play mechanism. You could stack 10 x 45's at a time.

Of course the big secret was that if you moved the stabilsing arm over to one side, put on an LP, it would replay it over and over again. Great for a smooochy party!

My mom and dad would never have given me an advanced model when i was 3...But they did get me that one hoping to satisfy my need to play with record players...And hopefully keeping me from playing with their record player...or the fancy record players my grandparents owned...It was futile...I had mastered the operation of all record players before i was 5...No matter how hi-tech they were...

Hi Dan,

Oh, I make an appearance every day. I just don't spend enough time to post or reply.

That post just begged for someone to respond to it.

I'm doing a lot of research on the build of my new i7 SETI cruncher. Above the 600 already spent, I have to spend another 2 and 1/4. This will be my best build yet! :) It'll probably be another week or 2 before I can begin the build.

Keep on BOINCing...! :)
