Hey everyone

So I'm back in the fold after a year of inactivity since my institute put in a Microsoft firewall that we couldn't get to seti (or any boinc project) through.

It's been changed recently and so I'm back; however, my system keeps reporting no new work for either of the 2 projects (seti and malariacontrol) I was connected to. I've tried updating boinc, which was successful, and also the update project options; also deleting and reattaching to the projects, but both report no new work available.

What am I missing here? The rest of seti seems to have work to do, so it's not like the project has shut down in my absence...

Any advice?

thanks

Hi -d-,

You're returning just after a long problematic outage, where for the past couple of days no-one could upload. That has been fixed since yesterday's maintenance outage, but somewhere during the Berkeley evening either the download servers stopped working, or the server status page stopped updating. We don't know at this time how much work there is ready to send, as that page is a good 5 hours behind on actual time (last update time 4:20 UTC, actual time now 9:24 UTC). All we can do is wait a further 8 hours for someone to come into the office again at Seti and kick whatever's stuck. :-)

As for MalariaControl.net, that's a separate project. They do not have always work either. Checking their server status page, I see they're out of work as well. But best ask in their forums for an update.

Actually, it is currently in the process. Got back just in time to catch it in its death throes...

The Oscars were last week.

The project is running on a shoe string budget, but it has always been running on a shoe string budget. Yes, there was a problem, and there will be more problems in the future. No, it is not about to fold.

Hey guys

Thanks for the replies. I appear to have downloaded some seti work as of this morning. Malariacontrol still dead in the water, though.

Malariacontrol is between application development. They ran out of work before the new application was ready. There has been no work for a month. They should be back in April (I hope). See post Status update -- February 2010 on their Message boards : Malaria Control
