Hi, I've recently upgraded my machine and transfer my old task to the new OS. Everything seemed to be working fine, but for the last two days only the GPU tasks are running, while the CPU is doing nothing. From the list of task I have a bunch in uploading state, two running on the Nvidia GPU (after 3 mins idle) and the rest ready to start. Any idea what's causing this? Here's my initial messages, in case they shed some light. Thanks. 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.36 for windows_x86_64 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Running under account alvarovaquero 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Processor: 8 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz [Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 5] 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Processor: 256.00 KB cache 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 lm vmx tm2 popcnt pbe 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Ultimate x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00) 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Memory: 5.99 GB physical, 11.98 GB virtual 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Disk: 129.51 GB total, 26.83 GB free 3/15/2010 11:23:19 AM Local time is UTC -5 hours 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTS 250 (driver version 19621, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.1, 1024MB, 453 GFLOPS peak) 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM NVIDIA GPU 1: GeForce GTS 250 (driver version 19621, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.1, 1024MB, 453 GFLOPS peak) 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 4827674; resource share 100 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 13-Apr-2008 14:14:51) 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home Computer location: home 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM Reading preferences override file 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM Preferences: 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM max memory usage when active: 3067.56MB 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM max memory usage when idle: 5521.61MB 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM max disk usage: 26.88GB 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM don't use GPU while active 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM (to change, visit the web site of an attached project, 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM or click on Preferences) 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM Not using a proxy 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home Started upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.137_1_0 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home Started upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.80_0_0 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 3/15/2010 11:23:20 AM SETI@home Not reporting or requesting tasks 3/15/2010 11:23:25 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.137_1_0: HTTP error 3/15/2010 11:23:25 AM SETI@home Backing off 2 min 45 sec on upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.137_1_0 3/15/2010 11:23:25 AM SETI@home Started upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.143_0_0 3/15/2010 11:23:26 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.143_0_0: HTTP error 3/15/2010 11:23:26 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.143_0_0 3/15/2010 11:23:26 AM SETI@home Started upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.86_0_0 3/15/2010 11:23:27 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.86_0_0: HTTP error 3/15/2010 11:23:27 AM SETI@home Backing off 1 min 0 sec on upload of 28dc06ad.9414.13570.11.10.86_0_0 BR, /Alvaro |

the servers are borked as mentioned in multiple other posts. I'm not sure why your new OS is suddenly not running the WU's. Did you upgrade BOINC? reinstall it? change settings? In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Hi, That's probably because only GPU tasks are left on your machine. You can see that in the "Application" column in the "Tasks" tab of BOINC manager. The CPU tasks have a "6.03" in the application name. From the list of task I have a bunch in uploading state, two running on the Nvidia GPU (after 3 mins idle) and the rest ready to start. Any idea what's causing this? Yes, if you look at all the other posts from the last days, you'll see that the SETI servers have problems with uploading our tasks. And since you have so many tasks pending in upload, BOINC won't download new ones. So, you'll have to be patient until the Berkeley crew solves the problem. Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the new setup. Well, there may still be something wrong with the new setup, but the server side issues are masking any problem you might or might not have on your computer. BOINC WIKI |

1) Did you check you have WUs of version 6.03 2) Did you check the NEW Preference: Suspend work if CPU usage is > XX % http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=58787 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
