"Archurus Comes"

if you see a book in the sky
it's not a trick to fool your eye
you will know
Archurus comes...Archurus comes
when the clock on the wall
is headed south out the exit hall
you will know
Archurus comes...Archurus comes

did you think that you could really escape the wrath
don't you know they know when you went off the path

if you think the tale wasn't told
because the memory has grown old
it's still there
Archurus comes...Archurus comes
if your sitting on the ground
when the parade comes to your town
they will see
Archurus comes...Archurus comes

did you think that you could really escape the wrath
don't you know they know when you went off the path

(2010 db michel)

This comes from an old memory...from a nightmare i had as a child...I was about 9 years old when i had the nightmare...It was scary enough that i remember it all these years later...

I was sitting on the gutter on the side of the street as a parade passed by...and then i saw it...A car that looked like a book!...and Archurus was in the car...It wasn't how Archurus looked that scared me...It was the car that looked like a book!...He told me something about how i wasn't lazy enough and said that i was bad...and then drove away in his book...The dream scared me for reasons that i still don't understand...I'll never forget it...

Haunting poem Dan. I like it!

But who is Archurus?

What use is speech, what use is it to say
Words that without an echo die away,
And only leave vain sadness after?
All a forest of shadows rings with laughter,
If thou but move thy hand to grasp at life.

My love, the path on which we laugh with life
Pales in a doubt befogged with roads that leads not thorough;
The night is triumphing with stars, towards to-morrow;
In the night, thou sayest, shadowy terrors fall.
Be undeceived, there is no night:
There is only multiform, enormous light,
And the stars are there, for thee to be drunk with all.

Another Oldie.

Loss of Soul

The loss of soul
This is how it feels
When one day you see
That any hope you may have felt in youth
Will not be realized
The failure of a life
Death throes of dreams tossed in the light
For all that pass to see
Withering the soul
Blind, Those who pass…
No comfort here
This thing we will not see
OFF TO YOUR LIVES
Never seeing the death of a soul
Another shattered outcast
The invisible
I fear this coming more than the pass
Then the soul to recover
Likely not
But then who cares
It is not theirs…smile
Just another lost soul
The story does not matter
Or the loss

More fine work from Julie and Jim...Btw Jim...I remember "loss of Soul" from back in '06...I'm glad you posted it again...there are many that missed it the first time...I'm glad to see it again...'cause it's heartbreakingly true.

The Soul rekindled

The Soul rekindled
Fought on into the darkness
Found reasons to believe
Found kindred Souls around the World And Rejoiced
Found Some Justice...Made some Peace
Found Reason to Hope and Laugh and Live
Never Perfect...But some Small reasons to look to the Future with Hope
Souls Touched to be Forever Remembered
Pain Laughter and Sorrows Never to Forget
The World Lives on
Never needing Us
And Hoping still that Man will Survive and Learn
That some will Progress and learn to love
What we Will Become
And Remember we were Here

Thanks to all who have recognized the S@H Poets.
I wish more would come out of "The Closet" and post their works.

I'd like that too, but unfortunately, you'll never hear one from me unless I plagiarize one.

River Flow

As I sit and watch the river flow

I wonder where my life will go

And as I watch the clouds go by

I wonder if they ever die

And still I watch the seasons pass

From winter cold to summer grass

And when the light of reason fails

I cry

Ya...I had only been in the Army 6 months.
I still remember the day.
It was sunny and I had parked by the Ohio River to think...When i looked up in the sky there was a row of light clouds but mostly clear though. And this one row of was fully connected and had three perfectly Identical crescent rolling waves in a row.
Ohh, The bad old/good old days seen through innocent eyes. ;-)

Just a continuation...

Life is calm,

Even as this evening of sweet summer, now
The bird is silent on the bough,
That bends above the river,
whose needs no longer quiver;
And the pacific night and wise
Sleeps without a shuddler under cloudless skies.
