Perhaps, my fellow poets have received a poem that causes them to scratch their heads. Here's a response, to one of them. . . (Hopefully, it's not already been entered.) ;o) Mind-Twister The words from poem, which you sent -- the neurons in my mind, have bent. A shrink might help, with words for me -- prescribing Shakespear's poetry. And, now the rest is up to you -- to right a wrong, with verbal tool. A composition, having sense -- to bring me up to present tense. Perhaps, some synesthesia -- for curing of amnesia. But, any metaphor, will do -- mixed tropes in oxymoron stew. My kingdom, for a hearse, he said -- to lay vile words, in quiet bed. * * * j. r. martin 21 April 2012 |

Silence I don't know what you are feeling what's going on deep inside. I don't know if I should talk, scream or not say anything at all. I don't know what the meaning is of that face you make I cannot read the signals from your eyes. I don't know what it is that you need and if I could, or even try to supply in that. I never knew that silence had the strength to bind my hands. I never knew that it would take a rock to break the silence. Julie Detavernier (2012) rOZZ Music Pictures |

How Will We Dance? If we are disbanded, how will we dance? Two bands, at a distance, each playing for one. Our shadows for partners, which isn't much fun. * Palmettos and blue skies . . . red leaves fall from gray. And, duckies, poor duckies -- cannot fly away. * * * j. r. martin 14 November 2012 |

Love is like water This is how it seems to me, your heart will show you the way to the place where you want to be. For a while you can ignore what your heart says but it will remind you to it each and every day. And yes, I also know that it's sometimes impossible to do but love in your heart is like water, it always finds a way through. Julie Detavernier (2012) rOZZ Music Pictures |

Mike -- Why not a poem, from you? Nothing like added perspective. |

Use my arms to hide Take my heart and it will shine for you. All the roads you have to walk, I will be there too. Take my hand, I'll be by your side. Trust me when you're tired, It will be alright. When it rains and the sun fades away, you can use my arms to hide, don't ever dismay. Keep your lovely smile that enlightens your way. Know my heart that you carry is always there to stay. Onto the sea Onto the sea I sailed my boat and prayed that I would stay afloat. From dawn till dusk. From dusk till dawn. In search of love I drifted on. What happened then, I don't recall. I think it was a sudden squall. For when I awoke, I thought I died. In the sight of an angel at my side. But lucky for me, that was not true, for I found love and love was you. . . . plus one, by Mary Oliver. This time, it's one that was included in "The Discovery of Poetry", by Frances Mayes. Poppies (Mary Oliver, 1935-) The poppies send up their orange flares; swaying in the wind, their congregations are a levitation of bright dust, of thin and lacy leaves. There isn't a place in this world that doesn't sooner or later drown in the indigos of darkness, but now, for a while, the roughage shines like a miracle as it floats above everything with its yellow hair. Of course nothing stops the cold, black, curved blade from hooking forward -- of course loss is the great lesson. But, also I say this: that light is an invitation to happiness, and that happiness, when it's done right, is a kind of holiness, palpable and redemptive. Inside the bright fields, touched by their rough and spongy gold, I am washed and washed in the river of earthly delight -- and what are you going to do -- what can you do about it -- deep, blue night? |

Being there Being there... Legs pulled up, arms around your knees. Looking down tho where ocean and sky meet. Where ships come and go, crossing worlds where they meet. Looking up to the western heavens where moon and stars fade. At the coming of dawn, they wait for the earth to turn. By the timetable she follows to be seen again at sundown. Looking at this scenery in space, universe extravaganza, thoughts come to mind, question marks, the ones you carry since ancient times. What on earth are we doing here? What will the future be? Is there a way out back to the stars? Well, the answers are within, within you. The spirit of play. It will show when you play the games of life. Guaranteed, the future will be, as bright as you'll be. As it will be. Come on and play. Team up! You'll be on your way... Julie Detavernier (2012) rOZZ Music Pictures |

Searching (for ET...) I will stare at the moon for as long as it takes. I will find it...and soon, I won't make mistakes. I will look at the stars, even when the sun comes up. I will look behind bars and take a glimpse of every raindrop. I will search here and there, even if it seems impossible. I will fight with the ones who care for a life maybe o so fragile. The best days Time is changing everything. It's changing you and me. It's moving all around us, keeps moving endlessly but nothing will ever change the way I feel inside. The memory will always be alive. When I remember you, I remember love. I remember how you always gave it all you got. I remember all the good and bad times and also the sad times and how you taught me to remember those were the best days of our lives. Julie Detavernier (2012) rOZZ Music Pictures |

Smile Smile when you're happy and smile when you're sad. Smile when you're in love and smile when you're feeling bad. Smile your whole life and everything will be alright. A smile is the key to every answer. With a smile, you win every fight. But even when it hurts, smile and laugh and do it whole. Just smile and show your feelings 'cause a smile is a mirror to your soul. Julie Detavernier (2012) rOZZ Music Pictures |
