The real name

First you call it magic
'cause you never felt so light.
You're seeing right through it,
blind for the second sight.

After many daydreams,
you're getting your first kiss.
Now it's called love,
at least you think it is.

It lasts a little while
before you call it doubt.
This isn't what you thought it was.
You're falling off your cloud.

Then you call it a piece,
a piece of a broken heart.
Now you're back on the ground,
ready for a brand new start.

Cardboard City

Cardboad City residency.
Life-style graced with difficulty.
Always ready for new vistas.
Jobs, aplenty, as baristas.

They are found in inner-city;
clustered, for our scorn and pity.
Favorite places under bridge-spans,
housing teachers, cabbies, dead-pans.

Making do with what they garner.
Sterno-heat, in winter, warmer.
Send their kids to local schools.
Food-stamps, pantries, go by rules.

Making sure that they will vote.
For their children's future, hope.

I will always be me

I always wanted
to be someone else.
To be everything I was not.
I was not happy with
all the things I got.

I wanted a new life,
one world I've made
but every time I tried to change
I made the same mistake.

I was stupid
and I wouldn't see.
I finally found out
what was wrong with me.

I was not good enough.
I was not good as myself.
I was a stupid girl
and I was a fool.

Now I've learned
and now I'm free.
I will never change
and always be me.

And, I'm glad that you're fine, as well, Julie. You had me concerned
for awhile, never-the-less. :o)

Even though I'm a new-comer to your Seti Cafe, Julie, I do have
developed some good attachments to you good folks.

I look forward to continuing on, with everyone, into the Seti sunset,
when we should meet even more interesting folks in the Milky Way.

(This could provide grist for a poem, Julie. You, first?) ;o)

Julie -- If I may assist (This is fun.) . . .

SETI Sun-Set

When the day fades, quite away,
and LGM have said, "Hello!" --
When we've sent our best, their way,
and speak a language we all know --

When technologies unite,
and arts have blossomed, quite anew --
When priorities seem right,
and all do prosper, not the few --

When relationships appear,
and new-found friends are common-place --
When sports-events are not quite near,
and children set another pace --

Then, we'll lift ou glasses, high --
let toasts and cheers to SETI, fly.

Question: Can "left-justification" be over-ruled, in favor of,
say, vertical center?

OK, Julie. In Microsoft's "Wordpad" editor, one has the option to
center the document in the middle of the page ("Rich" Text).

To be honest, with you, most of my poems are created, that way
(Form is important.). I've never raised the question, before,
because I didn't think it would be all that important to the rest
of my fellow poets -- and, your own editor might come with its own
constraints.

On the other hand, perhaps I need to play around with
it, a little more?

Hope this sheds a little more light on things, for you.

As a follow-up, Julie -- If you'd like to view "SETI Sun-Set", as
my poetry groups, (There are two, here.) have received it, just
transfer/retype it, using the "Rich" format (or, its equivalent).

Let me know what you think!

Remember, it won't be transferable (as far as I know it) into
Dan's Poetry Corner -- just as a print-out, or for mailing, on-line.

ps (apologies),

All lines are double-spaced, except for triple-spacing between stanzas,
and between the title and the first line of the poem.

The only place I can read Seti sun-set is here. I wouldn't know how to open it in WordPad, unless you send it to me through Email of course. As for the lay out of a poem in a word document, sometimes I center them in the middle of the page or in the bottom right corner but most of the time I just leave them in the upper left corner.

Julie -- I know that email is discouraged, in Seti; however, if you sent me
your address (via private message?), I'd be glad to mail you an attachment.

Faithfull strangers

Peaceful living is
an understatement.
God's creations
die underrated.
Frightened of the ones
who claim to be übermensch.

Changing manners
won't fade behaviour.
Animals outclass
their human superiors.
They won't lie and
they live and die
and will go to heaven.

Faithful strangers,
all God's creatures.
We're trying to be
one in society.

What we need is
to give our love.
Surely we'll try
to get us above
the clouds, for
they are the gate
to His Paradise.
