I have an Acer Aspire One with a Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz running Mandriva 2010. The regular work unit seems to crunch fine. However the Astropulse one will take a couple life times to finish.
I had a laptop before with a Celeron CPU and it would not complete Astropluse either in time to send back.
So is there a way I can opt out of receiving Astropulse work units? I looked in preferences and could not find anything.

Try

Run only the selected applications
SETI@home Enhanced: yes
Astropulse: no
Astropulse v5: no

If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? no
in your SETI@home preferences.

However, you should try if your computer can finish the task in time before aborting it, because the initial estimations for time To completion are generally far off.

If you look in your "Preferences for this project" link in your account, you'll see an option to "Run only the selected applications" with SETI@Home Enhanced, AstroPulse & AstroPulse v5. Turn off all AstroPulse if you don't want to receive any more.

Also, make sure you turn off "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" to "No" otherwise you may end up with AstroPulse if SETI happens to run out of work.
