I have been sent a message from someone who has farmed a load of email addresses from SETI. He has also been trying to add me as a friend on facebook. EVERYONE BE AWARE OF THIS PERSON. His name is Henry-Roland Dorau (roldor2@yahoo.de). And his email contains a link to a website. This could be a farming or physhing site. DO NOT OPEN OR GIVE THIS PERSON ANY INFORMATION OR REPLY TO HIS EMAILS OR OTHER ATTEMPTS AT COMMUNICATION. Email below: Hello to all i collected from Boinc and Seti. Here is an interesting article from "astronomynow.com": http://www.astronomynow.com/news/n1001/27SETI/ Henry-Roland Dorau Po.Box 100431 78404 Konstanz Germany Info: http://www.roldor.de old: http://mitglied.lycos.de/roldor1/roldor.html email: roldor2@yahoo.de mobile: 0049 (0)176 29 000 333 Skype: roldor3 |

the website appears to be legit. We probably need to have some of our Deutsch readers take a look at the site to make heads or tails of the site. Be aware that we discourage and hide posts that have email addresses in them in an attempt to keep spambots from skimming them from the forums. I would suggest the same for a profile as well. Please note. I have received a reply from yahoo. "After investigation, we have determined that this email message did not originate from the Yahoo! Mail system. It appears that the sender of this message forged the header information to give the impression that it came from the Yahoo! Mail system. The "@yahoo.co.uk" address associated with the email does not exist." |

...but the info you posted doesn't show "@yahoo.co.uk", it shows "@yahoo.de". |

...but the info you posted doesn't show "@yahoo.co.uk", it shows "@yahoo.de". The post was sent with the full headers, which are not shown above, to yahoo.com for the attention of yahoo.de. And this was the reply. Why they have said it was yahoo.co.uk and not yahoo.de, I have no idea. Maybe the forged account had further information of a yahoo.co.uk address instead. All I know is that, in this country, it is illegal to send unsolicited emails for any reason. And this was unsolicited. This person had also tried to add me as a friend on facebook. Also, unsolicited and unwanted. Can the forum moderators explain the part of his email about the emails he "COLLECTED FROM BOINC AND SETI", That sounds like farming emails to me and is highly illegal. |

No, simply because we are forum moderators, not Project Administrators. I have forwarded your question to an Admin for an answer. |
