Apologies if this is a question answered elsewhere - I've had a good search.

I have a Windows 7 (64bit) PC that has a a lot to upload but for the past week or so has had the following errors, and is not doanloading or uploading work units:

25/01/2010 09:40:45 SETI@home Started upload of 26ja07ab.28474.9479.9.10.226_0_0
25/01/2010 09:40:46 SETI@home Temporarily failed upload of 26ja07ab.28474.9479.9.10.234_0_0: HTTP error

I also have an XP machine (on the same network etc), but that is working fine...

Is the Windows 7 PC faulty or is it something like it's just looking to connect to a different server?

Thanks for any help,

Ben

Have you stopped and restarted BOINC, or rebooted since the errors started?

Sometimes an ARP table (the table that holds the IPs for Internet sites) gets in a word corrupt. Sometimes just restarting the software works, sometimes a reboot is needed. This especially happens after Windows updates without a reboot.

Thanks for the reply.

Have restarted the PC and the software (even diconnected and reconnected the client - you never know) but with no joy.

Anything else to try? Could I reinstall or would that lose the work units/change nothing?

Thanks again,

Ben

Thanks for all the replies.

Seems that it fixed itself last night when Win 7 crashed. Rebooted and it was working fine. Has uploaded all and download fine this morning.

How odd.

Golden Rule when debugging problems on Windows: When in doubt, reboot :p

Or wait for it to freeze, swear at it, then turn it off and on again :)

I've got the same error, when I tried to upload some results back to SETI.
I got a HTTP error all the time, but that was caused by the clogged server...

Hello out there.

I do have the problem with HTTP error on upload, with two different pcs, one running W2K, and with this problem for a long time. Resently. I started another PC, running W7/x-64 with the same account. A lot of work was loaded up, and the tasks were executed... But upload of results have been very slow, just a few now and then, and always with the 'HTTP error', and 'internet access ok' ,may be servers down' But cheking the servers, they are always running. And I've done the reboots, the restarts, set up up to use http 1 etc, all the adwise found here. But very difficult to get anything at all uploaded. And Boinc seems to be running ok, as the NFS project is working ok on the w7-system. Anyone got any adwise of what to check / setup? Regards Jorn

It's probably no problem at your side, we all have the same difficulties. For further info look at the Technical News subforum and the "Panic Mode On - Server problems" threads at Number crunching.

Gundolf

All my Windows XP SP3 boxes are refusing to upload or download, but just Seti results. My Mac is just fine and einstein@home on XP is fine as well. Keep getting the http error. Net connection is fine, no settings were changed on the windows boxes and they are in different places (different buildings.. different net connections/ISPs).

please read the posts carefully. the servers are having upload/download problems. you are experiencing what everyone else is. Please be patient and if you dont have work sign up for another BOINC project. there are 50-80 to choose from

Any ideas, when the server problems will be solved?

Best regards

only the seti team would know. We just moderate the forums. I can only assume the AC failure reaped some major havoc on the server closet. check the technical news forum for more details
