I have a new computer, and when I installed BOINC for this system I found the screensaver "COMPLETELY unwatchable due to extreme graphic glitches, tearing, flashing, flickering, etc.." (quoting someone who seems to have gotten the same problem but on a Mac)

However, this only happens with SETI@home, I'm also running Einstein@home and that screensaver works fine.

I'm running BOINC version 6.10.18

CPU: Intel Core i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 30 Stepping 5]
(4 processors)

GPU: CAL ATI Radeon HD 4600 series (R730) (1024MB) driver: 1.4.515

Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00)

1GB RAM for the graphics card and 4GB RAM for the CPU

Thanks for anyone's help.

How about turning it off. the screen saver eats up a bit of the CPU cycles you could be using on your WU's. There really isn't anything anyone can do to improve your performance with the Grpahics card.

However since you have a newer ATI you could sign up for Collatz or Milkyway and start crunching with it. you should see a RAC of 40K+ with that card on either MW or Collatz.

If you do decide to run either project I would indeed turn off the screensaver because it will really mess with the Work being done

Milkyway would be a no as the 4600 series does not have double precision. Collatz is fine though.

Hi,

I also have the blank screensaver when using Seti@Home - but I've noticed that when I move the mouse to go back to using the computer, the Seti screensaver graph appears for a fraction of a second before getting back to Windows.

I really don't want a blank screen, I want to see the screensaver. I've got "Go to blank screen" unticked. The BOINC screensaver is set to turn on after 5m.

graphics card: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family
driver version: 6.14.0010.4926 (English)
os version: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3
BOINC version: 6.10.18
project application version: SETI@Home Enhanced 6.03

Help?

Thanks,
Caroline...
