Yes I can hardly wait for the constant robocalls and television ads on every channel espousing the waywardness of some candidates opponent. Not surprising that instead of seeking some sort of mild consensus the obviously partisan conservative agenda has reached the Supreme court. I say impeachment should be forthcoming to a few members of the court.

Hell Scalia has no problem sitting in on cases where he's got financial interests. No collusion there. At least with O'Connor we had an honest Judge that examined each case and went on its merit. Now we get stuck with 5-4 decisions on virtually every case. 5-4 basically means that they do not agree and that something is probably wrong. On previous SC's the Jurist would actually talk through the case now its wham bam thank you maam. they at one time used to look for consensus on the vote. It wasnt uncommon to have vote show up as 7-2, 8-1, or even 9-0. The court wanted to show that their vote was meaningful. Todays 5-4 crap just means we now deal with 2 sides that will never see eye to eye.

I'm all for tossing Thomas out on his ass. I've typed more words here than he's spoken ever on the Supreme Court. It's not hard to tell that he's already made the decision on the case and just wants to just get the vote over and go home. what a wasted seat.

I keep wondering how much of this crap the American population will put up with.

The only answer so far is they will take it endlessly.

Looks like forever as it will now be impossible to reverse it.

IDIOT 5. A corporation is a license. Government can restrict a license it grants any way it wants.

and the last time I checked corporations dont vote can't get married, donm't carry a birth certificate, can never get its own drivers license.
ergo they dont have any freedom of speech

People are entitled to freedom of speech

This will also be a boon for lobbyists.

One Kentucky representative, whose only news source is Louisville, stated that if a corporation didn't like him they could simply buy all the ad space in the 2 weeks prior to the election in his district and basically deafen the listeners with their views. How Patriotic and American can you get.

This also has a lot to do with the POS that BIll Clinton got enacted. whereby, single entities could own more than a few media outlets in one market. Nothing like stacking the deck.

I really do think the Dems in the Senate should just say screw it we are nuking you. no more filibusters. We pass what we want passed

According to research by UCLA political scientist Barbara Sinclair, there was an average of one filibuster per Congress during the 1950s. That number has grown steadily since and spiked in 2007 and 2008 (the 110th Congress), when there were 52 filibusters. More broadly, according to Sinclair, while 8 percent of major legislation in the 1960s was subject to "extended-debate-related problems" like filibusters, 70 percent of major bills were so targeted [by Republicans] during the 110th Congress.

lets not forget that the congress was controlled by the Dems from the time of FDR until the Nixon years. You can see how things would get worse.
