Sometimes threads get locked or hidden.

If a thread gets locked, but is still viewable, it would be useful to know the reason.

e.g.

1) Thread locked at the request of the originator (OP) because it got off-topic.
2) Thread locked by a moderator for ... reason.
3) Thread auto-locked after x days of inactivity.

I know that a thread can be unlocked under some circumstanes, it would also be useful if a message could be put in the last post of a thread advising how to try to get a thread unlocked.

generally once a thread is locked it stays locked. Most on Cafe are due to the size of the thread or the starting of a new thread with the same topic.

on NC you get the same thing with the caveat of users wanting to close their thread once its usefulness has passed. So unless its your thread its unlikely that it will be unlocked
