Hey guys, I have seen some 'generic' answers that somewhat answer my question, but not entirely, so I thought I'd repost. I've replaced my failig motherbaord and CPU, and have tested with SETI and everything seems to be running fine. I'm not generating the errors I was getting with my previously failing equipment, which is always a good sign :) Anyways, I've still got some work units sitting on the old hard drive. I don't really want to crunch with the old PC because that'll cause them all to fail, however I want to import the old work units. My question is essentially two-fold: 1. I know that if I haven't already started work on my new PC, I can simply copy the contents of the old data directory over and SETi _should_ start working on this. However, my new PC ahs already started work. Is there an easy way to 'merge' the two data directories? 2. Given that my old machine was processing a few WUs, and these ones are likely to cause errors when finished, is there a way during the 'merging' to make sure these WU's don't get carried across? Cheers in advance. |

Merging data directories isn't impossible, but very cumbersome and error-prone. I'd suggest one of the following approaches to your 'problem': The easiest way would be to abandon the tasks in the old data directory. Lest your wing persons have to wait for the deadline, you could either abort each task and report it or detach from SETI and re-attach. That's under the assumption that the old computer still works. The other possibility is that you 'pause' the new data by renaming the directory and finish the old tasks on the new computer after copying the data directory. Gruß, Gundolf [edit]The tasks that were already started on the old computer you should abort in any case, to avoid wasting processing time on the new one.[/edit] Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. You can change your email address in your account. Please edit your post (within the hour) to take the email address out. SPAM bots read these forums as well!!! As for Seti, there's problems with the servers/network since last Monday. Everyone has problems uploading/downloading/reporting. All we can do is wait till these problems are fixed. Or attach to a secondary project, there are enough to choose from. |

email removed for privacy reasons. The message is very clear about the reason you are not getting work for you NVIDIA GPU. It does not have sufficient RAM. You should be able to get work for your CPU. You can change your email address easily on "your account" pages. BOINC WIKI |
