I’m totally dependent on Windows etc to tell me what’s going on with my PC. I can’t even manage a basic programming line. 10 print “Ben is great†20 goto 10 was as far as I got!! Does anyone know if I can get my networked LaCie Network Space 2 (Designed by Neil Poulton none the less! <??>) to run BIONC/Seti@Home? It’s on all the time as I use it as a Media Server so it would be great if I could somehow install BIONC on it, and attach my project(?) to it so it would run in the back ground. Any suggestions gratefully received. If this could be done by a 6 year old, I can do it! Thanks for reading Ben |

I’m totally dependent on Windows etc to tell me what’s going on with my PC. I can’t even manage a basic programming line. If it runs Windows 2000 or newer, download the latest from http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php. Run the executable that you just downloaded. If it has a Graphics Processing Unit that S@H will do crunching on, you might want to NOT do the protected install. Otherwise, do the protected install (this is an option on about the third page). Once it is installed, it may require a reboot. After the reboot, if that was required, run BOINC Manager. It will prompt you to add a project. Select one. You can always add more later. BOINC needs semi-regular network access - always on is easier. If you have dialup, let us know and we will walk you through that. BOINC WIKI |

John, the LaCie Network Space 2 is a specialized NAS box. I can't find if the hardware it uses is even supported by BOINC (these things usually use an ARM type processor) let alone what type of OS it uses in firmware. More than likely BOINC cannot run on it anymore than it can run on a Netgear router using an ARM processor and specialized OS. |

I believe that the answer is that it is going to be difficult to impossible to get any code to run on the thing. BOINC WIKI |
