Please look at this link that describes how to attach a S@H classic account to your BOINC account. Note that it will set your original join date and there will be a footnote on your page that indicates how much time and how many tasks you did under classic. They do not translate to BOINC credits. You can only attach one Classic account to one BOINC account. You cannot merge either Classic accounts to Classic accounts or BOINC accounts to BOINC accounts.

I hate to make a partial hijack of the thread but this is totally related as I'm looking to merge my old work units with this account. I as well started back in 99, but lost touch with seti for a while. I know the account name, but not the associated email address it was under. I've gone through so many over the years that I can't recall which one I had for seti. Is there any way to find out what one is on file under my classic account? The account name is retox138 and has nearly 10000 hours in and a 99 start date.

The link provided requires you to enter the email address associated with the classic account, which I don't have. The page his link leads to has a section for those who no longer have access to their previous email accounts which then takes you to the claim page which prompts you to enter the classic account's email address, not just the user name.

The question I was asking was is there anyway to see what email address is associated with that old account?

I was involved with SETI@home in 2001. I just downloaded the bionic manager and attached my prior work to it. It showed I have no credits, so i'm not sure why. any reason?

If you go to your account page (ACCOUNT link on this page), you'll see
SETI@home classic workunits 126
SETI@home classic CPU time 8,000 hours
and that is all you can expect. The classic work isn't converted to BOINC credits, only the join date and the mentioned entries are kept as a memento.

You could add those lines to your signature if you want them to show up with your forum posts :-)

Gruß,
Gundolf

No. For privacy reasons, all email addresses are contained in a database unaccessible to anyone but the account holder.

Can't you just try every email you have/had?

No. However, there is no penalty for trying several email addresses.

Yes, everyone starts from 0. However, there is now a note on your account information on how much classic work you did.

That's the thing, I feel like I have tried every email address I've ever had, except a few random work emails. The problem is that I've literally gone through hundreds of email accounts over the years, and despite being fairly sure that I knew what address this was under, I can't seem to get it right. I guess I'll just have to accept that only I will know that I was around back in 1999 :/

If you are "fairly sure what address this was under"
do know that here at SETI@home CasE MATTers for the account email -

so e.g.:
skyzefawlun@yaahhhooo0.com
Skyzefawlun@yaahhhooo0.com
SkyzeFawLun@yaahhhooo0.com
SkyzeFawLun@Yaahhhooo0.Com

are considered different - try every combination you can think of.

As far as I know, the email address of the SETI classic account doesn't need to be active. You just have to enter it to identify yourself.
