Hey folks,

I was just wondering what credits are for? How are credits calculated and what can I do with my credits?

Sorry for this silly question but there seems to be no hint on all the FAQ-pages here...

I think most of the info you'd want is on the BOINC wiki. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/User_manual

Once you gain an infinite amount of credits you can trade them in for a toaster. :D Note: Price of toaster & shipping not included.

Not a silly question...

Probably the most ask question. My preferred link, Credit explanation in the Unofficial WIKI. Seti uses minimum validation of two results and it counts the FLOPS with a multiplication factor, rather than using benchmark, in determining the credits requests.

As someone succinctly put it. You can think of Credits as an odometer and RAC as a speedometer. It provides a means of keeping track of your contribution to the project and become a way to see the health of your system.

Some use it as a competition and/or a way of bragging about their system(s) performance.

Not sure...
And maybe I am mistaken. They might just be enough for a stir stick.

I'm sure it will at least be a nice swizzle stick... ok maybe a used one that has been run over by a dump truck & perhaps a squirrel chewed on it a bit.

Welcome to Seti

Please do not feel offended. If you have not figured out by now the Credits are only a measure of your progress... Other than they have no physical value. Many have made "Fun" of the topic, as it has been repeated many times over.

Please feel free to join in and do what you can for Seti.
